Las Vegas, NV (January 6, 2013) – For opening day of the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Pacific Accessory Corporation® – the industry leader in OEM integration and mobile electronics interfaces – unveiled the company’s newest innovation in steering wheel control (SWC) interfaces, a universal module capable of being programmed easily from the most popular smart devices. Named ControlPRO, this SWC interface works with virtually any vehicle with steering wheel controls and can be programmed via USB adapter from an iPod touch, iPhone or iPad; Android phone or tablet, or Internet-connected PC running Windows. For more information, or to see the ControlPRO in action, please visit CES booth 2808, LVCC North Hall.

Designed to make integration of OEM steering wheel controls with an aftermarket head unit or car stereo system quick and easy, the ControlPRO offers several major advantages over other SWC interfaces, including:

  • ControlPRO works with virtually any automotive data bus
    • CANBUS (dual-wire CAN)
    • GM-LAN (single-wire CAN)
    • Class II
    • LIN-BUS
    • I-BUS
    • Analog
  • ControlPRO installs behind the radio instead of at the steering column
  • Audible programming feedback for fast and easy manual configuration
  • Allows quick custom button configurations (including short press/long press functions)
  • Free programming app available for iOS and Android devices

But, possibly the most important and exciting feature of the PAC ControlPRO is that it can be programmed via the free app from an iOS or Android smartphone or tablet, as well as an Internet-connected PC running Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 or windows 8. Once installed, the ControlPRO is connected to the tablet, smartphone or PC via a USB adapter and the programming itself is done by App (iOS and Android) or Web-portal (Windows device). Additionally, programming for a particular make and model of vehicle can be saved on a USB drive and used to flash the ControlPRO. Finally, if a computer or Internet connection is unavailable, the ControlPRO can be programmed by using a set of simple dip switches.
