BURLINGAME, CA July 10, 2014 — Misfit, makers of Shine, today announced the Misfit Beddit Sleep System, an integration with the Beddit Sleep Monitor. Using the world’s thinnest sleep sensor and advanced signal processing technologies, Beddit seamlessly measures sleep cycles and quality using heart rate, respiration, movement, snoring, and sound.

Unlike other products on the market, Beddit does not require the user to wear anything. The paper-thin device rests on the user’s mattress, under the sheets. It integrates with Misfit’s user interface via the Misfit app, and measures physiological signals automatically, wirelessly transmitting the data to a smartphone. Users can get accurate insights into their nightly sleep habits, viewing key statistics and visualizations on the app.

“Shine delivered on the important function of activity tracking, but we saw that sleep tracking was one of the most engaging features because Shine does it automatically, unlike other activity monitors,” said Sonny Vu, CEO and founder of Misfit. “With Beddit, we’re making our sleep tracking functionality even more robust. Not only are we able to measure more, but even less is required of the user—a frictionless experience.”

Lasse Leppakorpi, CEO and founder of Beddit, added, “We are truly excited to add ambient sleep analysis to the Misfit experience. Shine is a beautifully designed product for activity tracking and coupled with the Beddit Sleep Monitor, it offers a comprehensive solution for 24/7 wellness monitoring.”

The Beddit Sleep Monitor is now available at http://store.misfit.com/ for $149.99.

An estimated 70 million people in the US alone suffer from chronic sleep problems, which are associated with health problems including diabetes, obesity, depression, heart attack, and stroke.
