Behind The Wheel: 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Limited

The 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Limited is a 4 door family car that has room for 5. The seating is leather front and rear seats with power heated front seats. The driver’s seat has 2 person memory with an integrated selection switch in the driver’s door. 

The Sonata Hybrid is powered by a 2.0 Gasoline Direct Injection 4 Cylinder Hybrid Engine. The Hybrid system features a 270V lithium Polymer Battery with a Hybrid Starter Generator. The Hybrid Motor is a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor. The total Horse Power of the system is 193. This power is put to the road through 17 inch tires and a 6 Speed Automatic Transmission with SHIFTRONIC. The shifting is very smooth and not very noticeable when on both back country roads as well as the highway. With the combination of both the Hybrid motor and Gasoline engine, the Sonata Hybrid has a 0-60 time of 8.2 seconds. This combination gives you the fuel efficiency you want with the pickup you deserve. 

 

They 216 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Limited is packed with many standard safety features to protect you and your family. Some of those include,  Vehicle Stability Management System with Traction Control, ABS with Electronic Brake Force Distribution and Brake Assist, 4 Wheel disk Brakes with Regenerative Braking ( this recharges the battery when you are coasting or under braking conditions), Front, Front Side Impact and Side Curtain Air Bags, Drivers Knee Airbag, Rearview Camera, Tire Pressure Monitoring with Individual Tire Pressure Indicator ( this shows the exact pressure in each tire, not just that one tire is low). With the Ultimate Package ($4,500)that was added to the Sonata we tested, there is also Lane Departure Warning System, Forward Collision Warning, Automatic High Beam Assist, Rear Parking Assistance System, and Smart Cruise Control with Stop/Start Capability. 

Lets take a look at the interior that we touched on earlier.The Sonata features a proximity key with keyless entry. This will unlock your doors when you approach. This also allows you to use the push button start without taking the key fob out of your pocket. As we mentioned earlier the front seats are heated. They are also ventilated for cooling when the summer sun warms them up. The Ultimate package includes all-weather floor mats and interior LED Lighting. 

The Instrument Cluster has a Color LCD trim computer with Hybrid Technology Display. As you can see from the pictures, this features a standard Tachometer on the left side with regenerative braking information.  On the left you also have a LCD display with battery charge level. The right side features a digital display for your speed as well as your fuel level. The center features a customizable display and setting feature that allows you to view and adjust different settings as well as display Engine Temp, Radio and XM information, Compass, Land Departure display, and Hybrid charging status.

The Sonata Hybrid we tested features an Infinity Sound System with Infinity Speakers, Subwoofer, and 400 Watt amplifier. Standard, the Sonata Hybrid comes with a 5 Inch color touch screen display. With the Ultimate Package, we have a 8 Inch touch screen with navigation. They features include HD Radio with multicasting, SiriusXM radio with 90 day free trial, Bluetooth Connectivity for hands free phone calls and music streaming, Hyundai Blue Link Telematics, Blue Link Connected Car Care Trial, Emergency Tire Puncture Kit (no spare tire is included), and SiriusXM Travel Link (complimentary trial).

Hyundai has given the Sonata “America’s Best Warranty” with includes a 5 year/60,000 mile New Vehicle Warranty, 10 year/100,000 Powertrain Warranty, 10 Year/100,000 mile Hybrid System Components Warranty, Lifetime Hybrid Battery Warranty, 5 year/ unlimited mile Roadside Assistance. All of this is included standard
