Heatworks MODEL 3 Smart Water Heater Named Red Dot Product Design Award Winner

Mt. Pleasant, SC – Heatworks, the US-based company that is reinventing the way we heat and use water, is excited to announce its selection as winner of the 2018 Red Dot Award in Product Design for its MODEL 3 Smart Water Heater. In a rigorous process, the prestigious panel of Red Dot judges selected the MODEL 3 for its standout design and innovation from the most crowded group of submissions in the organization’s history, stemming from 59 countries. The MODEL 3, along with its fellow product/brand winners, will be showcased at the Red Dot Design Museum in Germany, the world’s largest exhibition of award-winning contemporary design.

“With the MODEL 3 set to ship to initial backers and preorders next month, we’re thrilled to see even more international validation of its innovative functionality and design,” said Heatworks founder and CEO, Jerry Callahan. “This tremendous Red Dot honor strengthens our core belief that we will make an impact by solving problems and never compromising. MODEL 3 represents that belief from start to finish.”

Powered by Heatworks’ patented Ohmic Array Technology, the MODEL 3 does not use traditional metal heating elements that can rust and scale over time. Instead, Heatworks uses water as the heating element. Through graphite electrodes and advanced electronic controls, the naturally occurring minerals in water are excited, directly and efficiently heating the water. And, since water is used as the heating element, the hot water is purer than water from any other water heaters available in the industry today.

The unique water heating process coupled with the MODEL 3’s smart capabilities, creates a consistent and precise experience for any user. Since the MODEL 3 is 99% energy efficient, users will get more hot water and reduce the overall cost of heating their family’s water by about 40%. For the average American family, that’s $112 back each year. Heatworks’ groundbreaking app can be used to monitor things like the amount of hot water and energy use each day, and more.

“Because we wanted to create excitement in the largely ignored, commoditized space of water heating appliances, we decided to collaborate with frog design on the MODEL 3,” said Callahan. “The end result is a truly memorable product experience: The MODEL 3 is pure, precise and performance driven, with the ultimate smart home integration and unique appliance design.”

The MODEL 3 is available now for preorder and will begin shipping to customers in May 2018. To learn more about the MODEL 3 and other Heatworks products, visit: MyHeatworks.com
