Hands On: Adventure Alpha Series Headphones By Westone
It’s no secret I like listening to music. I do it in the car, in my house, even when mowing the lawn. The problem is finding headphones that offer both great sound and clarity. In my quest to make my music listening better I have tried the Adventure Alpha Series Headphones by Westone. Lets see how the listening experience went.
The Adventure Series Headphones are a in-ear headphone so you don’t have the cumbersome band over your head or have large muff over your ears that cause you to sweat when you are doing something. The headphones have an over the ear cable to keep them in place and also help to keep the ear buds from just falling out of your ears like can happen with some cheaper headphones.
The Adventure Series works well for all ear sizes as it comes with 10 different sized ear buds ( 5 foam sets and 5 silicone sets) to give you a perfect fit every time. One problem with in-ear headphones is the fact that you can get wax build up in them that will not only affect the sound quality, but just isn’t hygienic. Westone has alleviated this problem by including a special tool to clean out your ear buds to keep them clean and sanitary all the time.
There is an inline controller on the right headphone cable that allows you to control the volume and also pause and play your music. This is designed to work best with Apple products. There is also an inline mic so you can take your call without having to remove your headphones and pick up your phone.
The headphone cable is made of a reflective material to keep you visible if you happen to prefer to run during low light situations.
You also receive a carrying case for your headphones when they are not in use. The plastic case keeps them clean and dry in between uses.
Do you use your headphones while running or walking and worry about them getting ruined in the rain? With the Adventure Series you can forget that as they have a IPX-3 Weather Resistance rating. This rating means that your headphones will be fine when you have water falling as a spray at any angle up to 60° from the vertical shall have no harmful effect.
The headphones are made from a lightweight magnesium body and aluminium to give you good looks while not weighing your head down.
The sound is provided by a 6.5mm driver with Precision Surface Tuning to give you the sound quality you are looking for.
Speaking of sound we need to talk about the sound quality of the Adventure Series Headphones don’t we.
As I type this review I am using the headphone to listen to music that range from Trans-Siberian Orchestra to Five Finger Death Punch to Skrillix to Classical. The Adventure Series Headphones make listening to all those types of music enjoyable and pleasurable. The 6.5mm drivers provide a great response range giving your crystal clear highs and lows that are not muddled or sound forced. Vocals are very clear and crisp also. If you prefer to listen to your music loud, the Adventure Series has little to no distortion when cranked to 11.
Overall these are great headphones. The sound quality alone makes them well worth the cost. Good construction and inline mic with controls just adds to their worth.
