As if having countless hang up 911 prank calls and pranks from dead cell phones wasn’t enough, now in a limited area in the US you can do text to 911. Remember, this won’t work in all area’s and you can check the LINK HERE to see if your area has it. This list is not complete, as it doesn’t show Allegheny County in Pennsylvania who has also just implemented the system. Remember when calling or texting 911 that this isn’t CSI or NCIS and we can’t ping your phone or tell exactly where you are most of the time. It will give Telecommunicators a good starting point, but don’t rely on it. Know where you are and make sure you give that information to dispatchers first.
