Multiple New Marine-Grade Digital Media Source Systems

Clarion has introduced three new ultra-rugged, feature-rich multimedia source systems, specifically designed for marine applications. Clarion’s powerful new CMS20, M608 and M508 multimedia source units are stylishly designed with an upscale look and feel, are packed full of connectivity options, and have been ruggedly engineered to endure years of marine use without ever skipping a beat. All three new models offer enhanced NMEA 2000 support* for controlling of the source units’ features from a boat’s onboard multi-function display (MFD).

“The interiors of many modern boats are stylishly designed and lavishly appointed, much like a flagship luxury car. Similarly, boaters demand that the marine audio systems in their boats deliver functionality, features, and great audio quality like those found in premium cars,” said Allen H. Gharapetian, Vice President of Marketing and Product Planning for Clarion Corporation of America. “Our new marine audio systems are designed to address this shift.  From their brushed black metal finish and machined metal knob designs to their meticulously engineered ergonomics and tactile feedback, everything about the form and function of these new products exudes quality and refinement. Adding in Clarion’s industry-leading technologies and features, unrelenting resilience to marine use, and the ability for the systems to be controlled from a boat’s touchscreen MFD display, and you will have products that deliver upscale, tailor-made experiences to those who design and build boats, as well as those who purchase and enjoy them.”

The CMS20 is an IPX6 rated digital media powerhouse designed specifically for marine and powersports applications.  The mechless two-piece system includes a compact black box for installation flexibility and a weather protected controller. The controller’s innovative backlit dot matrix LCD display provides users with source and track information at a glance, and can be configured to show two, three or four lines of text based on viewing preference. The new CMS20 utilizes a 32-bit micro controller paired together with a 4.1 channel audio processor to deliver high-end performance and top quality sound. It is also equipped with 6 pre-amp outputs and features a powerful built-in amplifier that continuously monitors the system to maintain low distortion levels and optimize sound quality. Connectivity options include AM/FM/WB tuner, Bluetooth aptX, AUX-in, and USB for music stored on flash drives or smartphones and SiriusXM.

The M608 is a stylish, feature-rich, iP65-rated multimedia source unit purposefully built to endure the perils of the marine environment. Its single DIN chassis easily installs in most pre-existing radio openings, while its oversized face provides easier control when bouncing through choppy waters. The large, white LED backlit LCD display offers excellent contrast and is easy to read. The unit’s four-zone volume control makes it possible to adjust the volume level in up to four independent audio zones on the same vessel. This allows boaters to enjoy listening to the same source in the cabin, in the cockpit and on the deck with the freedom to adjust volume of specific zones based on their preferences. Connectivity options include, Global AM/FM/WB tuner, Bluetooth aptX, AUX-in, and USB for music stored on flash drives, iPod or iPad, and SiriusXM. In addition to having a powerful 200-watt internal amp, the M608 features eight pre-amp outputs for incredible system expandability.

The M508 is Clarion’s new single-DIN marine-grade multimedia source unit that boasts robust connectivity features and legendary Clarion sound quality. Its single DIN chassis and face make it an excellent replacement system for smaller or older boats, while its upscale design fits right in with today’s highly stylized boat consoles and cabins. The large, white LED backlit LCD display is easy to read and offers great visibility. Setting it apart from competing marine systems, the M508 features two-zone volume control, making it possible for the captain and passengers to enjoy the same audio source at different volumes. Connectivity options include Global AM/FM/WB tuner, Bluetooth aptX, AUX-in, and USB for music stored on flash drives, iPod or iPad, and SiriusXM. With AUX input and USB connectors right on the front of the unit, it’s extremely easy to hookup an external audio source. The system’s 180-watt internal amp offers more than enough power for most boats, however, the unit offers six-channel preamp outputs for vast system expandability.

Recognized by the industry for their benchmark durability and reliability, every Clarion marine system and accessory endures numerous character defining tests. By replicating prolonged UV exposure, simulating the humid saltwater environment and rigorously testing for thermal shock to imitate quick changes in temperature, Clarion ensures that its marine line-up can withstand the rigors of the harshest environments season after season.

The CMS20M608 and M508 will be shipping in Q1 2018 to boat builders directly from Clarion, while the retail boxed versions will also be available through Clarion-authorized national distributors and retailers around the same time.

Extreme-Performance CM-Series Marine Speakers and Subwoofers with RGB Illumination

Clarion has introduced its all-new CM-series line of high-performance, extreme-duty marine-grade speakers, subwoofers and tower speakers. Backed by Clarion’s long-time leadership in the marine audio space, the new CM-Series continues the company’s legacy of producing top-tier marine-grade audio components that boast unrelenting resilience to the elements, exciting aesthetic design, and industry-leading features without compromising on delivering the benchmark sound quality Clarion is known for.

With every model in the product line delivering impressive RMS power handling capabilities, the CM-Series is specifically engineered to lead the class in power, performance, and affordability. In addition, the entire line was designed to enhance the aesthetics of today’s boats by featuring a sophisticated yet protective carbon fiber-style interior grill with integrated RGB LED illumination. In addition, CM-series speakers (excluding tower speakers) come with both silver and black outer grills in the box, offering boaters two options to match their boat’s color scheme.

As with all Clarion marine-grade audio systems and components, the new CM-Series was engineered for extreme durability. All speakers in the line feature a high-impact ASA plastic woofer basket that will not rust or corrode and will protect the woofer from being crushed or dented if accidentally hit from behind by boating gear. In addition, all infinite baffle CM-series speakers feature secure, waterproof speaker and RGB illumination wire connections on the basket. This ensures that wires will never come loose from the extreme forces that can be experienced when boating and that all connections to the speaker remain protected from water intrusion and corrosive elements.

“The CM-Series is the most powerful, durable and feature-rich line of purpose-built marine-grade speakers we’ve ever created,” said Allen H. Gharapetian, Vice President of Marketing and Product Planning at Clarion Corporation of America. “Much like a fully-equipped yacht, cruiser, sail, or tow boat, our CM-series line of extreme performance speakers boast the perfect blend of uncompromised performance, quality and style. While we spent a tremendous amount of time engineering and testing the CM-series to ensure all models in the line perform and can withstand extreme marine use, we also paid a lot of attention to the aesthetic design of the line. Thanks to the upscale carbon fiber-style look and the novel nautical propeller grill design, included outer grill shells in both silver and black, and RGB LED cone illumination, we are certain that the all-new CM-series will stimulate boaters’ ears as well as their eyes.”

The CM Series is comprised of full-range tower speakers, infinite baffle coaxial speakers and powerful dual voice coil subwoofers. Models include:

  • CM1623RL: 6.5-inch coaxial speakers; 200-watts max/80-watts RMS
  • CM2513WL: 10-inch dual voice coil subwoofer; 800-Watts Max/250-Watts RMS
  • CM3013WL: 12-inch dual voice coil subwoofer; 1000-Watts Max/300-Watts RMS
  • CM1624TS: 6.5-inch coaxial wake tower speakers (silver); 200-watts max/80-watts RMS
  • CM1624TB: 6.5-inch coaxial wake tower speakers (black); 200-watts max/80-watts RMS

Recognized by the industry for their benchmark durability and reliability, every Clarion marine and powersports audio system, speaker, amplifier and accessory endures a battery of character defining tests. By replicating prolonged UV exposure, simulating the humid saltwater environment and rigorously testing for thermal shock to imitate quick changes in temperature, Clarion ensures that the CM-Series line can withstand the rigors of the harshest environments season after season.

The CM-Series speakers will become available in Q1 of 2018 to boat builders directly from Clarion, while the retail boxed versions will also be available through Clarion-authorized national distributors and retailers around the same time.
