Track Santa with the KAYAK skill for Amazon Alexa

STAMFORD, Conn.Dec. 8, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — KAYAK is turning the tables on Santa by giving its users the ability to track his whereabouts with live updates as he makes his way around the world with the help of Amazon Alexa. Using your KAYAK skill for Amazon Alexa on the Echo, Echo Show, Echo Plus and more, travelers can now track Santa’s journey across the world and discover in real-time his location, when he’ll hit certain cities, and, most importantly, when he’ll arrive at your home. KAYAK is also introducing today its “Travel Hack of the Day” feature uncovering daily tips and tricks for an improved travel planning experience.

As an added bonus, this year users of the KAYAK skill for Amazon Alexa devices with a screen will not only hear where jolly ol’ Saint Nick is on his Christmas Eve journey, they will also be able to see on a map where in the world he and his reindeer are currently dropping off gifts.

Simply start by enabling the skill and saying, “Alexa, ask KAYAK to track Santa.” Using a combination of navigation software, algorithms and insider-elf intelligence from North Pole Central Command, the KAYAK skill for Alexa uses KAYAK’s Flight Tracker to pinpoint Kris Kringle’s location during his holiday flight.

Once you’ve enabled the KAYAK skill by voice, on the Amazon website or in your Alexa app, you can begin tracking Santa by asking any of these questions:

  • Alexa, ask KAYAK to track Santa.
  • Alexa, ask KAYAK, when will Santa be in Boston?
  • Alexa, ask KAYAK when will Santa be here?

In addition to the launch of this year’s Santa Tracker, KAYAK is introducing its “Travel Hack of the Day”- an update to the KAYAK skill on Amazon Alexa to make your travel planning even easier. Start by asking, “Alexa, what’s the news” and Alexa will start your daily news briefing with a useful travel hack from KAYAK. You can also say, “Alexa, ask KAYAK what is the travel hack of the day” and KAYAK’s travel advice will pop right up.

KAYAK’s travel hacks include data-driven tips to help you save money on your next trip, tricks on how and when to score the best airfare, general travel tips on packing and navigating airports and even destination-specific travel advice. Tune in every day for a different hack.

Additional updates to KAYAK’s skill for Amazon Alexa are available to users who link their KAYAK account with Alexa. Utterances include:

  • “Alexa, ask KAYAK to book me a hotel room in New York.”
  • “Alexa, ask KAYAK, when is my next trip?”
  • “Alexa, ask KAYAK, when is my next flight?”
  • Search by flight cabin class: “Alexa, ask KAYAK how much is a business class ticket to…”
  • Set up a Price Alert to track flight prices “Alexa, ask KAYAK how much is a flight to Miami next week” and Alexa will respond asking if you’d like to create a Price Alert.
