First Ever USB Power Solution for the New Amazon 4K Fire TV

SEATTLEJan. 4, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — For the first time, a solution is now available to power the new Amazon 4K Fire TV directly from a TV USB port, thereby avoiding the hassle of using an AC power outlet. Mission Accessories announces the release of the Mission USB Power Cable for Fire TV with integrated Power Boost technology.

The Mission USB Power Cable for Fire TV includes special circuity that increases the peak power output of the TV USB port, enabling users to provide power to Fire TV directly from the TV rather than an AC power outlet. Typically, USB ports on TVs can support 500mA to 900mA of output current. However, the new Fire TV can draw up to 1400mA peak and as much as 1200mA continuously. For this reason, connecting Fire TV directly to a TV USB port with a simple USB cable is not a viable solution and could lead to brownouts and resets.

Mission Accessories is the first company to solve this problem by developing a patent pending cable solution with an embedded lithium-ion battery that enhances the peak power output of the TV’s USB port. By storing excess current from the USB port when it is not needed and then releasing the current when the Fire TV demands more current than the USB port can source, the Mission USB Power Cable provides a stable and continuous power supply to the Fire TV without the need of an AC power outlet.

Brian Wengreen, President of Mission Accessories, states, “Fire TV users, especially those with wall-mounted TVs, appreciate the convenience of powering their Fire TV directly from their TV, avoiding the hassle of finding an available AC outlet near their TV and the unsightly mess of extra, unnecessary cords.”

The Mission USB Power Cable for Fire TV is available for $19.99 at Amazon.com.  Similar USB power cables with embedded Power Booster technology have been released for Fire TV Stick, Roku Express, and Chromecast.
