LAS VEGASJan. 8, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — CES 2018 — Onewheel+ creator Future Motion Inc releases their new flagship product, Onewheel+ XR, an extended range model for on- and off-road journeys of 12-18 miles, a major upgrade from the existing Onewheel+’s 6-8 mile range. The XR model also features increased power, torque and higher performance for all riders.

“Onewheel+ XR is incredible for transportation,” says Future Motion Founder and CEO Kyle Doerksen. “Having more range doesn’t just let you go farther it lets you change the way you use the product.”

Onewheel+ XR started out as a special project to build Doerksen’s dream Onewheel for his personal use. “The smoothness of Onewheel+ but with more than twice the range for big adventures. Once we rode it we knew it would be a game changer and that we had to bring it into production.”

“Range is about freedom,” says Jack Mudd, Onewheel Chief Evangelist. “With XR, you don’t have to think about how far you can go on a charge. Go where you want, worry less. It’s really arrived as a tool for transportation, but more so it’s a blissful stress-free experience.”

To achieve the extended range, the board features a new battery system developed at Future Motion’s Santa Cruz, California headquarters using state of the art NMC cells. These allow the additional range with minimal additional weight. “We’re hearing more and more customers talk about leaving their cars at home and riding everywhere, it’s really a vehicle replacement,” says Mudd.

To celebrate, a team of riders is attempting a 3-day, 300-mile Onewheel relay ride from Palm Springs to Las Vegas. “We wanted to showcase that Onewheel+ XR is built for going places and big adventures,” says Mudd. Follow their adventure on Instagram @rideonewheel

Onewheel+ XR connects to the Onewheel App, available on iPhone and Android, allowing Digital Shaping as well as recording and sharing rides with friends. The new model also features everything people love about the Onewheel+, including Surestance™ footpads and Hypercore™ motor technology.

“We’re in the midst of a global transformation in the way people move through cities and the technologies and products we are creating make that dream possible,” says Doerksen.

Future Motion is committed to American manufacturing and Onewheel+ XR is assembled at the company’s factory in California.

Onewheel+ XR is available for pre-order at www.onewheel.com for $1799, and Onewheel+ is in-stock and shipping for $1499 online and at select dealers across the US and worldwide.
