OTTAWAFeb. 26, 2018 /CNW/ – Crank Software today introduced Storyboard Suite 5.2, the latest release of its cross-platform UI development framework that enables organizations to create and refine the beautiful, high-performance user interfaces that consumers expect, in a fraction of the time required by traditional embedded development methodologies.

Storyboard Suite eliminates the biggest barriers to effective embedded user interface development: the gap between designers and developers, the delays caused by inevitable changes in design, and the challenges around delivering rich, modern UIs that perform on different scales of hardware. By letting designers and developers work side-by-side in the same workspace and by providing a purpose-built engine for embedded systems, Storyboard Suite brings ideas, implementation, and performance together across a wide range of microcontrollers and processors.

“With Storyboard 5.2, we have once again moved the bar higher with respect to engaging graphic designers in the embedded UI development process, ” said Thomas Fletcher, VP of Research & Development, Crank Software. “Our Storyboard Connector technology allows a more realistic desktop simulation of real-world UI interactions and brings together designers, testers, and software developers collaboratively in the same environment.”

Storyboard Suite 5.2 was designed to further empower designers to own the look and feel of the UI throughout the entire development lifecycle and to respond quickly to design change and rebranding requirements. By supporting both designers and developers and creating a flexible workflow that delivers scalability and performance, Storyboard enables design-centric, collaborative, and streamlined UI development for a wide range of industries and markets, including industrial, healthcare, automotive, white goods, and consumer products.

New in Storyboard 5.2

  • Simulate data from the system: Using the new Storyboard Connector, designers can test the effect of real-world data from the underlying embedded system to be able to easily refine and validate the user experience without needing to write code.
  • Easily manage design change and rebranding: Storyboard’s redesigned re-import tools make it efficient for designers to respond to product requirement changes and rebranding initiatives, without having to throw away existing work.
  • Import artboards: Artboards can now be imported into Storyboard Designer as screens, giving designers a better way to view and design their embedded applications and get started quickly.
  • Integrate artwork from Sketch: The integration of popular tools, such as Sketch, makes it easy for designers to use software and tools that they are most familiar with and use as part of their design workflow.

We will be demoing Storyboard Suite 5.2 at Embedded World 2018, February 27 – March 1, Hall 4 / Booth 4-459.
