Qualcomm Leads Automotive Innovation with Extensive Portfolio of Connected Car Technologies
BARCELONA, Spain, Feb. 26, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM), is celebrating 15 years supplying technology solutions for the automotive industry. Qualcomm Technologies is now the #1 semiconductor supplier in telematics and Bluetooth® car connectivity, and all major global automakers currently use its broad portfolio of automotive solutions across telematics, infotainment and connectivity. Qualcomm Technologies secured 25 new telematics and infotainment design-wins in FY17, reaching a total of more than $3 billion in design-wins reflected in the pipeline in these automotive segments, which includes over $1 billion in infotainment. The growing demand for technology and connectivity in vehicles puts Qualcomm Technologies in a strong position to serve the needs of the automotive industry, as analysts estimate that approximately 75 percent of new vehicles are projected to have embedded cellular connectivity by 2024, up from about 20 percent in 2015*.
