Spiffy Announces Spiffy Blue – Bluetooth Sensor + App Empowers Car Owners and Saves Money

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., June 27, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Get Spiffy, Inc. (Spiffy), an on-demand car care, technology, and services company, today announced the nationwide availability of Spiffy Blue. Spiffy Blue combines an on-board diagnostics (OBD-II) sensor with a free companion app that saves time and money for car owners.

“Today’s cars are extremely complex. While most consumers don’t have the time or mechanical sophistication to ‘do it yourself’, they want to feel confident when they take their cars to the shop,” said Spiffy CEO, Scot Wingo, “Since 1996, every car in the US has been required to have an on-board diagnostics port, or OBD-II port, but up until recently only professionals had access to scanning technology.”

Spiffy Blue gives car owners unparalleled access to information, like a fitness tracker for your car. Knowing exactly what you need when you go to the shop puts the power back your hands. You can work with service providers to ensure the right services are performed at a fair price.

Customers order the Spiffy Blue on-board diagnostics sensor online; it’s currently available atAmazon.com and eBay, and download the free app for Apple iOS & Android.

The sensor plugs into your car and uses your phone’s Bluetooth to pair with the Spiffy App and monitor important vehicle information. It alerts you to vehicle recalls to help keep you and your family safe, and reminds you of recommended scheduled maintenance to help keep your car on the road. It features an easy to use logbook for tracking any services you’ve had performed on your car and how much you spent.

Most importantly, Spiffy Blue decodes check engine lights. Instead of experiencing that sinking feeling when your dreaded check engine light comes on, Spiffy Blue customers feel confident walking into the auto repair shop knowing exactly what they need.

Spiffy’s Chief Product Officer, Joe Procopio, experienced it first-hand during development. “We were only about 50% feature complete, and my wife’s 2008 Toyota Sequoia started making scary noises,” said Procopio. “I had Spiffy Blue installed in her SUV, so I grabbed my phone, opened the app, and ran an engine diagnostic.”

Thanks to Spiffy Blue, Procopio felt empowered to seek a second opinion after the original mechanic’s diagnosis. His second mechanic discovered the mistake, which lined up with the Spiffy Blue error code. Procopio got the work done and got reimbursed $600 from the original mechanic.
