Cambridge, MA – The team behind MIT-backed startup DUO, developed their product in the hopes of creating a stir within the tech world. Funded by MIT Sandbox and IDEA Northeastern, and placing as a 2018 MassChallenge Boston finalist, Mobile Pixels’ DUO allows laptop users to increase their productivity while on the go with its portable monitor designed to work with virtually any laptop. After a successful 35 day-campaign, and raising $862,433 Mobile Pixels can now effectively begin DUO’s production process while continuing to accept orders on Indiegogo’s InDemand.
The idea itself is simple; DUO is a portable, foldable second screen designed for any laptop. After attaching DUO to the back of a laptop with the provided magnets, consumers can then connect it via a single USB-C cable and slide it out, to the left or right, as needed. DUO weights just 1.5 pounds and features a 12.5-inch screen, enabling it to fit almost any laptop, no matter the size. While the video driver has an energy star rating to help reduce battery drain and give users a long-lasting battery life, DUO also provides a full 270° rotation with the option for a 180° presentation mode, so consumers can choose an optimal viewing angle for any situation.
“Our backers have been our best supporters throughout our entire campaign, and my team and I have been listening to their requests,” said Creator Jack Yao. “We’ve introduced accessories, like a kickstand, for DUO and we’ve upgraded the screen to a matte version that’s easier to use outside. We’ve also offered our backers additional sets of magnets, so they can move DUO from computer to computer with ease.”
With an estimated ship date of January 2019, DUO will soon provide consumers with the true mobility needed to move from workspace to workspace. Mobile Pixels’ DUO has officially moved over to InDemand after completing its successful 35-day Kickstarter campaign. The team plans to offer the dual screen laptop monitor at a continued discounted rate of $199. For more information, visit bit.ly/DUO_IGG.
