FIRST IMPRESSIONS:

The Note9 features a slightly larger screen (.1 in) larger screen than the Note8 while the overall size is slightly smaller in height (.03 in) and only .07 inches wider. This makes for a comfortable feel in the hands as well as still easy to text one handed (for me this was no issue). The phone itself is slick when holding in your hands, so if you purchase the Note9, you should definitely purchase a case also. The S-Pen is a great add on that is very versatile, whether you use your Note for business or pleasure.

SCREEN:

The Note9 has a 6.4 inch Super AMOLED screen display. The resolution is 1440 x 2960 pixels and has a pixel density of 561. This gives you both a better resolution and ppi than the iPhone X.  The screen features HDR Video support, Scratch resistant glass. The screen size makes for easy watching of YouTube video’s as well as movies if you have a long trip or flight. The auto brightness I have found works well to keep the screen bright enough to view your phone, without blinding you if you turn your phone on in the dark.  You can definitely tell that this is the best screen in the market.

INTERNALS:

Powering the Note9 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Octa-core Processor. This is backed up by an Adreno 630 GPU. To keep the Note9 running at top speed, Samsung has included either 6G or 8GB of RAM, depending on the version. Internal storage is either 128GB or 513GB depending on the version you buy.  You can also add up to 512GB of storage through a microSD Card.  You have the ability to charge your phone via either Fast Charging Wired or Wireless charging. The battery is 4000 mAh which will power your phone for up to 12 days in standby time or 21 hours of video playback or 38 hours of talk time.  Our testing showed about 8 hours of gameplay time and 19 hours of movie time.  Your times will vary slightly depending on the games you play and the screen resolution settings you run.

CAMERA:

The camera of the Note9 is similar to the 8.  It is still 12 MP, but the Note9 now has a Wide angle lens with a Dual Aperture F1.5 Mode and a G2.4 Mode. There is also a Telephoto Lens with a 45 degree angle FOV and a F2.4 Aperture. This gives you professional style photos, and unrivaled video quality. The camera features Dual Optical Image Stabilization, Optical Zoom and Digital Zoom.

If you have kids, they will love that you purchased the Note9. They have AR Emoji’s, Hyper lapse, Super Slow-mo, Filters, Stamps, and so much more.

For your video’s you can record in either 4k or 1080p HD at either 30 or 60 fps. Super Slow Motion records in 720p at 960 fps and Slow Motion in1080p at 240 fps. You have Digital Video Image Stabilization to give you smooth, less jittery videos that your family, Snap Chat and Instagram followers will love.

Front facing camera is 8 MP with Wide angle. This works great for your social media posts as well as business meeting online and video chat with your family while you’re away.

S-PEN:

The one thing you won’t find on any other phone is the S-Pen. This addition to your smartphones is like a stylus on crack.  With the S-Pen you can create notes, smart select images of pictures, write on the screen, and send live messages that show your writing to the other person as you are writing, and instantly translate from any number of languages to yours. One of the new S-Pen features introduces on the Note9 is the ability to take a photo with the button on the S-Pen. You remove the S-Pen for the phone, set the phone where you want for your group photo, or get the perfect shot with your significant other, push the button, and snap your selfie/group photo/ picture is taken.  Since the S Pen is connected by Bluetooth, you can take photos from up to 33 feet away.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES:

Other things included with the Note9 are the safety features that include multiple ways to lock your phone. You can unlock using a password, pin, pattern, iris scan, facial recognition, or fingerprint. You also get S-Health which allows you to track your health and fitness goals. With the built in sensor, you can see your heart rate, pulse oxygenation, and your stress levels.  If you like to change the look of your phone, you can use the Samsung App to pick from hundreds and hundreds of different themes.

You also have the edge screen that lets you keep things important to you at the tip of your fingers.  You can have your favorite app’s, favorite contacts, stocks, weather, your schedule, device maintenance, tasks, quick tools, Internet, sports, finance, and music. There are more being added with the ability of anyone to create edge tools.

Another great feature is Samsung Pay. With Samsung Pay, you can use your phone through NFC to pay for your purchases with you credit card. Samsung Pay is accepted at almost all stores that accept credit or debit cards.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

The Note9 took everything that made the Note8 great and improved on it. . You have a larger screen, longer battery life, Screen quality that IMO surpasses any other phone out right now, and an S-Pen with even more features. The Note9 on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network with cost $999.99 or $41.66/ month for the 128GB model in either Lavender Purple or Ocean Blue, or $1249.99 or $52.08/ month for the 512GB model in both colors.
