Hexagon’s Multivista Identifies New Massachusetts Ownership, Expands Services

Hexagon’s Multivista, the leading global provider of visual documentation services for the construction industry, announced today new leadership for its Massachusetts location.

Jack Mackin purchased Multivista’s Massachusetts franchise location from long-time owners Mike Niswender and Joe Ferro. Mackin comes to Multivista with more than 15 years of experience in the New England construction industry, including executive leadership roles within F.D. Sterritt Lumber, a building supply company located in Watertown, Mass., that his family has owned and operated for nearly 100 years. Mackin brings an in-depth knowledge of the Massachusetts construction industry to his new role, and is a known advocate of Leadership in Energy and Envrionmental Design (LEED) construction as an early adopter of supplying sustainable resources.

“I’ve always been a fierce proponent of moving the construction industry forward. In my previous role, that meant a focus on green building,” explains Mackin. “Buying Multivista Massachusetts felt like the next natural iteration of that quest. Delivering construction technologies to a tech savvy construction market, like Massachusetts, was a perfect fit.”

Despite its well-known historical significance, Massachusetts is hardly stuck in the past. In addition to the world-class healthcare, education, and bio-tech facilities that the region is known for, city planners are working to add more than 50,000 new housing units within the coming decade. In the Boston-Metro alone, the Boston Planning and Development Agency Research Division indicates there are currently 124 active developments with construction value exceeding $11 billion.

“Boston is a juxtaposition between embracing and leading. It’s just as important for us to create incredibly modern and cutting-edge facilities as it is to preserve, maintain, and restore our historical buildings,” says Mackin.

Mackin’s Boston-based Multivista team are already serving property developers, building owners, and contractors on both new construction and renovations throughout every construction sector in Massachusetts. Multivista’s documentation specialists use photo and video, 3D virtual walkthroughs, UAVs and live webcams to capture progress and critical milestones throughout the construction process. The visual data is then served up through an intuitive cloud-based platform that all members of the project and facilities teams can leverage.

“Technology is the future of the construction industry, and visually capturing these projects creates efficiencies like we’ve never had before,” says Mackin. “Massachusetts is home to an educated and forward-thinking workforce and I’m confident they’ll find value in this visual data throughout the lifecycle of these developments.”
