LONDON — November 8, 2018: Creative computing leader Kano is excited to announce that the Harry Potter Kano Coding Kit has been named a CES 2019 Best of Innovation Awards Honoree by the Consumer Technology Association™. The first-of-its-kind interactive wand that lets you make and code magic on a screen will be on display in the Innovation Awards Showcase at CES 2019.

“We’re proud to bring the first-ever Harry Potter coding experience to life. We hope to set a new standard, and empower people of all ages to make magic with simple steps, fun physics, unique and yet familiar artwork, a rich amount of coding content, and an innovative system that not only recognizes but lets you code and create with wand motions” said Aaron Hinchion, Executive Creative Director at Kano. “We are honoured to receive this award, and couldn’t be more excited to see the amazing creations made by fans playing with the Harry Potter Kano Coding Kit this holiday season”

The Harry Potter Kano Coding Kit is a wand you build yourself, then use to cast and create spell-like effects on iOS and Android tablets as well as Windows and Mac computers. The coding wand can detect over 30 Wizarding World spell gestures, enabled by machine learning technology, to make jelly beans grow, bend sound, produce and control objects and more. The kit was included in Amazon’s Top 100 listand Toy Insider’s Top Tech 12 list and is available for $99.99 at Kano.me and selected retailers across the US, UK, Canada, Australia & New Zealand.

The kit includes step-by-step challenges that level you up slowly through coding powers inspired by the Wizarding World. The kit gives you access to Kano World a free online community filled with thousands of spells and effects developed and shared by community members. You can open, remix and use them with your coding wand. The platform has more than 1.5M users in 150 countries, and more than 700,000 creations and 59 million lines of code have been shared to date.

The CES Innovation Awards are sponsored by the Consumer Technology Association, owner and producer of CES, the world’s largest and most influential technology event. A panel of judges, including designers, engineers and members of the tech media, reviews submissions based on design, functionality, consumer appeal, engineering and how the products compare with the competition. Those products recognized as the Best of Innovation honorees received the highest ratings in their respective product categories.
