Morel Ships New Ultra Slim Speakers
With a mounting depth of only 0.67-inches, Morel claims the new Virtus Nano Carbon speakers are among the shallowest 6.5-inch high end speakers in car audio.
“To accomplish our goal, our R&D team had to reinvent our speaker architecture while incorporating as many of Morel’s key technological features developed over the years,” said CEO Oren Mordechai.
The new Virtus Nano Carbon replaces the composite paper cone with a damped, carbon fiber cone.
The woofer uses a large 2.1-inch voice coil and neodymium magnetic system. The cone has a“Grand-dome” convex shape made of highly damped sandwich hybrid carbon fiber and foam core for wide-dispersion and superior on- and off-axis response.
The Virtus Nano Carbon 3-way component system uses a compact CDM600 midrange with a 2.1-inch dome and neodymium magnet motor and rear vented design using Morel’s C.A.R. filter.
Both 602 2-way and 603 3-way component sets use a MT120N tweeter with Morel’s 1.1-inch (28mm) handcrafted Acuflex silk dome.
The speakers build upon the coaxial Virtus Nano Integra 602 that won a 2018 CES Design and Engineering Award.
The Virtus Nano Carbon 2-way has a suggested retail price of $599 and the 3-way version is available at $799.
They will be on display at CES 2019 at the Venetian Suite 29-112. For more information visit www.morelhifi.com
