Vuzix Announces Commercial Availability of the M300XL Smart Glasses for Enterprise
ROCHESTER, N.Y., Dec. 4, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Vuzix® Corporation (NASDAQ: VUZI), (“Vuzix” or, the “Company”), a leading supplier of Smart Glasses and Augmented Reality (AR) technology and products, is pleased to announce the commercial availability of the Vuzix M300XL Smart Glasses for enterprise.
The Vuzix M300XL Smart Glasses are the most powerful and best performing enterprise smart glasses ever released by the Company. The M300XL includes upgraded 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi for better network performance and roaming support. The M300XL utilizes the same Android operating system as other M-Series devices, allowing existing M-Series applications to be loaded onto the device and deployed into the field.
The M300XL Smart Glasses come equipped with improved battery performance, providing a longer shelf life when the device is turned off or stored for an extended period of time between field usages. The external battery connection on the M300XL features a standard USB connection that can be tied directly into a hot swappable battery or an external battery pack.
The Vuzix M300XL, similar to other successful M-Series smart glasses, features a wide array of industrial accessories and is the only universal smart glasses device available in the market. The Vuzix M300XL frames can be adjusted for left or right eye use, mounted onto a hardhat, headband or safety eyewear, and worn with prescription lenses or no lenses at all. And the M300XL has adopted standard USB sockets for its connectivity and has dropped the proprietary “pogo-pin” connectors of the original M300 model. Now any standard USB connection can be used without special adaptors.
The M300XL Smart Glasses feature a new 16 MP camera that is equipped with improved autofocus and image stabilized performance, allowing users to more rapidly scan barcodes. Barcodes can now be scanned in roughly one second or two to three times faster than previous Vuzix Smart Glasses devices. Additionally, the M300XL Smart Glasses support a telephoto lens add-on that enables long range scanning and even faster barcode scanning capabilities.
“The Vuzix M300XL Smart Glasses have already been placed into the field with select Vuzix channel partners and enterprise customers and are now commercially available for all enterprise customers,” said Paul Travers, Vuzix President and Chief Executive Officer. “Vuzix continues to innovate and provide industry leading enterprise smart glasses products for our customers and the Vuzix M300XL Smart Glasses are a significant step forward for the enterprise market.”
The Vuzix M300XL will be priced at $1,499.99, the same price as the prior M300 model. The original M300 Smart Glasses have been placed on sale for $999.99 and it too will include the same new 16MP camera as the M300XL, however quantities are limited and all future new production will be M300XL version.
