Embr Labs Enters Collaboration with Johnson & Johnson Innovation
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., JANUARY 29, 2019 – Embr Labs, the first company to make temperature personal, today announced a research collaboration with Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc. seeking innovative temperature solutions for menopausal women. The agreement was facilitated by Johnson & Johnson Innovation LLC.
Embr Labs’ flagship product, the Embr Wave, is a revolutionary bracelet that precisely cools or warms the temperature-sensitive skin on the wrist, helping the wearer feel cooler or warmer in minutes. Through this collaboration, the companies will explore the clinical efficacy of its patented thermal waveforms for conditions experienced by menopausal women, such as hot flashes and sleep disturbances.
“After investing 5 years to develop, patent, and commercialize our energy-efficient wearable heating and cooling platform, we are excited to be collaborating with Johnson & Johnson Consumer to explore applications of our platform technology for thermal wellness,” says Matt Smith, Co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Embr Labs. “We’ve heard incredible stories from our customers about how Embr Wave has changed their lives and we are committed to continuing to improve well-being by innovating in the area of thermal wellness.”
The Embr Wave works by triggering your body’s natural comfort response to help you feel five degrees cooler or warmer within minutes. Embr Labs’ patented technology enables powerful and energy efficient warming and cooling using as little power as a smart phone camera, allowing people to harness the power of temperature from small, discrete, and wearable accessories. Embr Wave has no moving parts, is completely silent, and responds immediately. The device can be specifically controlled based on the needs of who is wearing it; a person experiencing a hot flash can feel immediate cooling relief within minutes, while someone trying to escape a chill can access warming comfort at the touch of a button.
