WORX INNOVATIVE TOOLS MAKE WINTER PROJECTS GO SMOOTHLY

Charlotte, NC – Winter, after the Christmas tree has been taken down and ornaments have been stored away, is the season when many do-it-yourselfers become motivated to tackle woodworking and other home improvement projects. After all, there are no more lawn care and gardening chores competing for time, nor distractions, such as family vacations, golf, boating or patio parties, to name a few.

Three innovative tools that can help spell success for wintertime DIY projects include the WORX® 20V Switchdriver, WORX 20V 6-1/2 in. Circular Saw with ExacTrack and WORX Pegasus Worktable and Sawhorse.

Switchdriver_ WX176L profile.jpgWhat sets Switchdriver apart from other cordless drill/drivers is its rotating head equipped with two 1/4-in. chucks that can be loaded with different drill or driver bit combinations. This allows the user to drill a pilot hole, for example, and then quickly rotate the head to switch chucks and sink the screw with a driver bit.

Switchdriver keeps jobs moving along by drilling pilot holes and driving screws in half the time as a conventional drill/driver.  Drilling pilot holes makes screws go in easier and straighter. It also helps prevent work pieces from splitting or cracking when fastened.

Switchdriver works great for woodworking projects that involve switching between a countersink and driver bit. It’s also handy for installing shelves, curtain rods or blinds with drywall anchors.  Other typical applications include installation of kitchen or bathroom hardware, hinges and door sets, as well as assembly projects requiring different bits, including Phillips, slotted, square recess, Torx and nut drivers.

Switchdriver_ WX176L bit rotation.jpgSwitchdriver weighs only 3 lbs. and is powered by a 20V MAX lithium battery. It has an 11-position clutch with electronic torque control to prevent stripping of screws. A vertical guard beneath the headstock shields the user’s hand and a built-in LED light illuminates the work area.

Switchdriver includes two 1.5 Ah batteries, a charger, carrying bag, two drill bits (1/8 in., 3/32 in.) and one #2 Phillips bit. The tool is covered by the WORX three-year warranty.

The WORX 20V MAX lithium Switchdriver (WX176L, $89.97) is available at www.worx.com and other online retailers including Lowe’s. Click the following link to see Switchdriver in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6GynvWJW39g.

WORX ExacTrackL_Angle.jpgUsing a circular saw to make accurate rip cuts (straight-line cuts with the wood grain) in plywood and other dimensional lumber can be daunting.  Although most circular saws come with a basic edge guide, many users resort to track saw guide accessories for greater accuracy. These accessories usually cost from $40 to $80.

The extra expense of an optional accessory is not necessary with the WORX 20V 6-1/2 in. Circular Saw with ExacTrack – the only circular saw with a built-in track guide.  To rip cut a plywood sheet, the depth-of-cut is set and a lever is turned to ExacTrac mode.  A cut line is marked on the work piece, and a cutting guide board (a length of 1x lumber) is clamped to the work piece with its edge along the cut line.  ExacTrac then glides on top of the cutting guide board, while the saw’s base plate is kept flush against the board’s edge for a precise rip cut. When reset in standard mode, the cordless saw returns to its regular position for cross-cuts and bevel cuts.

WORX ExacTrack_ripping (2).jpgThe 6-1/2 in. circular saw weighs just 6 lbs. Its 3600 rpm (no-load) motor is powered by a 20-volt, 2.0 Ah, MAX lithium battery. The saw’s maximum depth of cut is 2 in. and its bevel capacity is 0-50°.

The versatile circular saw is ideal for any number of woodworking, DIY and remodeling projects.  These might include building shelves or cabinets, creating a kitchen island, replacing stairs, or making such items as rustic furniture, benches and stools, book and storage shelves, deck planters, wine racks, shoe organizers, and more. Home improvement magazines and websites offer a variety of plans for such projects.

The WORX 20V 6-1/2 in. Circular Saw with ExacTrack (WX530L, $119.99) is available at worx.com and Amazon.  The saw comes with one 20V, 2.0 Ah battery, charger and 24-tooth, carbide-tipped saw blade. It is covered by the WORX three-year warranty.  For tips on using ExacTrack, click https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyleR59R4Og .

Both cordless tools described above are part of the WORX 20V Power Share program. Their MAX lithium batteries are interchangeable with all WORX 20V lawn and garden and DIY tools for cost savings and convenience.

WORX_Pegasus_WX051_Angle.jpgThe WORX Pegasus Worktable and Sawhorse answers the homeowner’s question of whether to get a workbench or sawhorse – because it functions as both.  The portable Pegasus Worktable converts from a worktable supporting 300 lbs. into a sawhorse with a load-bearing capacity of up to 1,000 lbs. when joined with a second Pegasus or WORX Clamping Sawhorse

The workstation’s 31 x 25 in. tabletop has two built-in aluminum channels to house 18 in. quick-clamps. These quick-clamps secure work pieces to be glued, sanded, polished, stained and more. In addition, strategically placed slots in the tabletop accommodate four clamp dogs to secure circular and irregular-shaped work pieces.

Pegasus also has a convenient storage shelf to hold portable power tools and supplies. Space to attach a power strip also is provided.

To convert Pegasus from a worktable into a sawhorse, struts are released to fold down the extension wings on both sides of the tabletop. Two notches at both ends of the sawhorse are designed to hold 2×4’s. When 2×4’s are placed in these notches, they elevate 4×8 sheet goods for clamping to help support cross-cuts and rip cuts without cutting into the sawhorse.

WORX_WX051_Pegasus_WX429L+WX550L.jpgWhen folded, the 30-lb Pegasus worktable can be easily transported to different project locations or conveniently stored. For storage, the quick-clamps lock in place beneath the table.

Two or more Pegasus worktables can be securely interlocked from the side or back through Link-Lock.  An expanded work surface area is handy for large or multiple projects.

The WORX Pegasus Worktable and Sawhorse (WX051, $99.99) is available at www.worx.com and other online retailers, including Lowe’s, Walmart, Home Depot, Amazon and Menards. It is covered by the WORX three-year warranty. WORX Pegasus features and applications are shown in the following video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1etNSmcCZU .
