Subaru Canada Announces 2020 Forester Pricing: Enhanced Safety, Connectivity and New Convenience Features

MISSISSAUGA, ONAug. 23, 2019 /CNW/ – Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) is pleased to announce that the 2020 Forester will be available in showrooms this September. With the new generation introduced last year, the model lineup is second to none when it comes to safety, comfort and performance.

Power is delivered by a 2.5L direct-injection SUBARU BOXER engine offering 182 horsepower and 176 lb.-ft. of torque, and comes paired to a Lineartronic continuously variable transmission that works seamlessly with Subaru’s Symmetrical full-time all-wheel drive.

Safety continues to be a priority for Subaru. The 2019 Forester was awarded the Top Safety Pick+ (TSP+) award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), making it one of the Institute’s Top Safety Pick (TSP) winners for the thirteenth year in a row — cementing Forester as the longest standing winner in its segment.

New for 2020 is an enhanced EyeSight system with Lane Centring Assist, now standard on all models. The new rear seat reminder makes sure nothing – and no one – is left behind by providing audible and visual reminders to check the rear seat area before leaving the vehicle.

Six Trims to Choose From

Arriving at Subaru dealers across Canada this September, the 2020 Forester comes in six variants:  Forester, Convenience, Touring, Sport, Limited and Premier.

The entry-level 2020 Forester model features X-Mode and SI-Drive, as well as Auto Start-Stop for improved fuel performance. The 2020 Forester also offers LED headlights, tinted glass on rear doors and cargo area, raised profile roof rails and a 6.5-inch infotainment system with touchscreen display, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, STARLINK smartphone integration, Bluetooth mobile phone connectivity with voice activation and Bluetooth streaming audio and SiriusXM Satellite Radio.

The 2020 Forester Convenience offers 17-inch alloy wheels, 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, dual-zone automatic climate control and a rear spoiler. New for 2020, the Convenience model also includes SUBARU STARLINK Connected Services (free three-year trial subscription included), Reverse Automatic Braking and proximity key with push-button start.

Found in the 2020 Forester Touring model is High Beam Assist, a large power-sliding glass sunroof and a power rear tailgate with memory function. Added for 2020 is Subaru Rear/Side Vehicle Detection, reclining rear seats, rear console vents and rear seat USB ports.

The 2020 Forester Sport comes equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, Sport SI-Drive, dual-function X-Mode, an eight-inch infotainment system and steering-responsive headlights, as well as exclusive interior and exterior sporty orange trim accents.

On the 2020 Forester Limited, the list of features grows to include leather seating surfaces, heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, driver’s seat power memory, a Harman Kardon nine-speaker audio system and integrated GPS navigation.

Finally, the 2020 Forester Premier comes complete with DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation System, exclusive 18-inch machined alloy wheels, power-adjustable passenger seat, exclusive brown leather interior and silver exterior trim accents.

Named the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada’s Best Safety Innovation for 2019, Subaru’s innovative DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation System is designed to help address distracted driving and driver fatigue. The segment-exclusive system, which uses facial recognition software to identify signs of driver fatigue or driver distraction, works alongside Subaru’s EyeSight driver-assist suite to reduce the likelihood of a collision. Utilizing a camera mounted atop the dash, DriverFocus can register and recognize as many as five drivers and remember their individual pre-sets for seat position and door mirror angle, among others.

Subaru STARLINK Connected Services

Placing a further emphasis on safety and convenience is the introduction for the first time in Canada of SUBARU STARLINK Connected Services. Standard on all but entry-level trims, the system comes with a free three-year trial subscription and uses the nationwide 4G LTE cellular network — and completely separate from customers’ mobile devices — to allow customers to stay connected to their vehicles while also allowing them to receive important information to keep them safe.

Integrated directly into the vehicle, the system uses voice-response technology with the addition of live assistance for features such as Advanced Automatic Collision Notification in the event of a collision, SOS Emergency Assistance, Enhanced Roadside Assistance and Concierge Service.

Customers utilizing these services will be able to receive automatic emergency assistance in the event of a collision, remotely access vehicle features, schedule service appointments with dealers and receive point of interest navigation information among much more.

Other features include remote services, such as remote engine start (including climate control), remote lock and unlock, and remote vehicle locator, as well as vehicle alerts such as speed, boundary or curfew alerts that can all be controlled directly from customers’ smart devices.
