Augmented Island Studios working on Augmented Reality Product that will superpower knowledge across organizations:

The future is now. The Portland, OR based augmented and virtual reality development studio is said to be working on a mixed reality (XR) product for industrial clientele which will focus on holographic intelligent design to significantly improve management and engineer knowledge through data via Microsoft’s Hololens mixed reality smartglasses.

Fueled by a deep interest for a solution from a current client, Augmented Island Studios began it’s planning and design two months ago. When asked what the product would do, CEO Enrique Sanchez-Rivera explained: “This will be the most complete mixed reality solution in the market. Management and production teams will have the ability to see live AR unit/plant production and sales data and other metrics, have mixed reality troubleshooting and instructional manuals for their equipment, remote AR assistance from inside and outside the organization, enriched user data capture and analysis, and much more.”

Solutions like this one have started to appear in the market but the company’s Chief Technology Officer, Guillermo Alvarez, assures this one will stand out: “From the moment we started designing our application we were very conscious of how important it was to have an  incredibly intelligent solution but only presented through beautiful design and an outstanding  interface. Mixed reality can hurt rather than help if not designed beautifully and intelligently.”

Providing access to data in real time through augmented and mixed reality, providing employees with visual animated training and troubleshooting experiences, enabling collaboration for geographically scattered team members and collecting valuable enriched data (gestures, eye movement tracking, etc) are some of the most important benefits of XR.

Cost is currently prohibitive for many organizations that want to implement XR applications like the one Augmented Island Studios(AIS) is building but having their development offices in Cali, Colombia, gives AIS a significant advantage over other US or European providers. “From our market research we know that our product will be about 40% less expensive for organizations to buy and implement”, said CEO Enrique Sanchez-Rivera.
