It’s unfortunate that we live in times where there are so many dangers. Burglaries, home invasions, abductions, terrorist attacks, car accidents, and more, are happening every day causing an increased concern within the household. Though circumstances like these are essentially beyond your control, technological advancements have made it possible to reduce those risks and keep you and your family safe. Below, is a brief review of some of the trendiest gadgets and technology for securing what means most to you.

Home Security Systems

Burglaries and home invasions happen every day. While there are steps homeowners can take to remove their vulnerabilities, having an added layer of protection won’t hurt. Newly advanced home security systems help to keep families and their belongings secure. With features like security cameras, users can deter burglars and keep an eye on their property in real-time for added peace of mind.

Smart Home Devices

Home automation has become an increasingly popular method for simplifying life and increasing security. To add to your home security system there are also smart home devices to protect you and your loved ones. Smart locks can be accessed from anywhere to ensure that the home is secured. Smart lights not only keep your energy bill down, but they are great for deterring burglars while you’re out of town. Lastly, a smart doorbell is innovative in that you can see who is at your door whether you’re home or not.

Ignition Devices

Every second of the day, someone is involved in a motor vehicle accident. Though there are a number of factors that could cause an accident, driving while under the influence is at the top of the list. Fortunately, for those who are getting in trouble for driving under the influence are being held accountable. More municipalities are mandating those repeat offenders have to have an ignition interlock device on their vehicles. These devices help to keep everyone safe in that the car won’t start if the driver is over the legal limit.

Wearable Tech for Drivers

Another common reason for accidents behind the wheel is fatigue. Fortunately, there are new gadgets for drivers to help keep everyone safe. This wearable technology has built-in sensors that track certain factors like changes in heart rate and other biometrics. Should the sensors indicate that you’re falling asleep, you’ll either hear the sound of a loud alarm or feel a sharp but tiny electric shock to wake you up so you can safely pull off the road.

Personal Alert Systems

You may already be aware of emergency alert systems for senior citizens to keep them safe. These devices are small enough to be carried around the neck. With the press of a button, help can be dispatched to their home right away. However, there are more advanced personal emergency alert systems which can be great for anyone. Some are designed to look like watches, garage door openers, and even articles of jewelry. The devices, however, have capabilities that allow users to immediately send out an alert to local authorities or designated contacts should they be attacked, injured, or anything else while out and about.

GPS Tracker for Kids

There’s nothing more scary for a parent than the feeling of not being able to locate their child. Whether they got lost in a crowd while on vacation, haven’t checked in after walking home from school, or some other circumstance, the longer you can’t find them the more heart wrenching it can be. Though there are GPS trackers in cell phones, should your child lose the phone or the battery dies, so does the ability to track them.

Now they have small tag devices that get installed into a small wristband or attached to the kid’s clothes or bags. The device syncs to your smartphone allowing you to set parameters for where your child can go. Should they go outside of those ranges, you will immediately receive a notification. The devices also have a panic button on them so kids can signal to mom and dad if there’s a real issue.

You may not be able to control the many dangers there are out there in the world today, but you can try to safeguard yourself, your family, and your personal belongings from such horrific events by simply investing in some of the described safety gadgets and devices listed above.
