Buy what you need not what they tell you.

This idea of needing the most expensive phone in the market to have the best of the best is not 100% true.

Let me explain. The best of the best is relative to the user. An example would be. I do not take many photos, so I do not need 108mp camera with a 10X zoom. If I do not game. Do I really need 120Hz display and a super-fast processor/ Graphics? No, I do not.

Now say my needs are simpler. Say all I need is a big display for media and fat fingers, because I love watching my fav YouTubers and need amazing battery life. Do I need the $1200 Samsung s20 ULTRA 5G!!!!. No, I do not. A Samsung A70 or A71 would be fine and heck of a lot cheaper.

S20 Ultra 5G $1200 (amazon)

  • CPU Snapdragon 865
    • Octa-core (1×2.84 GHz Kryo 585 & 3×2.42 GHz Kryo 585 & 4×1.8 GHz
  • RAM 12GB
  • Screen 6.9-Inch 1440 x 3200 pixels
  • Storage 125,256,512 GB
  • 4 Camera 108, 48, 12, 0.3 MP
    • 40MP Selfie
  • 5000 mAh Battery

A71 $400 (amazon)

  • CPU Snapdragon 730
    • Octa-core (2×2.2 GHz Kryo 470 Gold & 6×1.8 GHz Kryo 470 Silver)
  • RAM 8GB
  • Screen 6.7-inch 1080 x 2400 pixels
  • Storage 128
  • 4 Camera 64, 12, 5, 5 MP
    • 32MP Selfie
  • 4500 mAh Battery

Obviously the one on the left is waaaay more packed with stuff. Bigger and faster everything and that is awesome… for power users. Casual users do not need this at all. The A71 has a smaller battery but because it is not powering up all those cool extras it has better battery life.

The point of this rant is that high end smartphones are perfect for some users. Like when I was selling these kinds of phone, I had the best to show the best because everyone wanted to see the best in action. But a lot of the time I would sell them something better to there needs. In turn saving them a ton of money.

When you are looking to buy you next phone. Do not look at what the sales guy tells you to buy or what has the biggest most advanced tech in it. Look at what so you need. Do you need a camera? Do you need gamer specs? Do you need big battery life?

I have been using Samsung a70 for about a month. I was curious how it would work. I had A Huawei p40 Pro which I loved. The Samsung has bigger display and better battery (not by leaps). The Huawei is more polished and faster over all but what I realized is it is not $700 faster. I need big screen and great battery. I am not a photographer or a gamer. I like to YouTube, research and need it to go all day without worry. In this the Samsung delivers 100% that saved me 57% of the Huawei’s value.

Let us not forget there is a whole world of high-end devices that are far cheaper. If you do not want to sacrifice features, you can still save money.

Xiaomi Black Shark 3 Pro $800 (amazon)

  • CPU Snapdragon 865
    • Octa-core (1×2.84 GHz Kryo 585 & 3×2.42 GHz Kryo 585 & 4×1.8 GHz

    • 20MP Selfie
  • 5000 mAh Battery

There are other choices out there too. Another example is Red Magic 5G mostly the same as Black Shark but only $700 on amazon.

The point is you do not need to spend $1000+ for a good phone. Do research, look at your needs and always see what the internet say before a salesperson. People on the internet are very vociferous and honest about their own opinions most of the time (minus trolls).

If you are a power user and love Samsung no one is saying do not buy Samsung. All I am saying if you want to save money on your cellphone. Look at all the options based on what you need not that people tell you to buy.

Peace out Homies
