Reasons to Use Solid Skid Steer Tires Over Pneumatic

With all the innovations in the construction industry, it’s surprising how many companies still use pneumatic tires instead of solid rubber tires on their heavy machinery. Pneumatic tires are not only prone to punctures and flats, but it’s not efficient having to constantly worry about your tire pressure. If you need to replace the tires on your equipment, check out these reasons to use solid skid steer tires over pneumatic.

Machine stability

Skid steers, along with other heavy equipment, commonly lift, push, or pull heavy items. That said, stability is crucial for the operator’s safety and everyone surrounding the job site. One advantage of solid rubber tires is that they’re much heavier than traditional pneumatic tires. This, in turn, significantly improves stability by adding weight to the machine.

Extremely low maintenance

Unlike pneumatic tires, which you have to test the air pressure of, solid rubber tires require little to no maintenance. If anything, you may need to occasionally tighten a bolt; otherwise, there’s no air to fill and no punctures to fix. With solid rubber tires, you simply get to work and increase your revenue stream. When you do get to the point of replacing, you’ll replace the entire rim and have a fresh wheel.

Durability and longevity

Remember when we said puncture-proof? We weren’t kidding. Since solid rubber tires don’t require any air, and they’re quite literally solid rubber; there’s nothing to puncture. That means no more flats. With solid tire’s durability and minimal maintenance, you can count on getting a lot more use out of solid tires than you would pneumatic tires. Now, it’s important to ensure you’re purchasing high-quality solid rubber skid steer tires from a reliable supplier.

Efficiency is everything in the construction industry, and there’s no question that heavy machinery can skyrocket your productivity. That said, if your heavy equipment doesn’t have quality tires, you’re going to waste time changing tires. As you’ve seen, there are plenty of reasons to use solid skid steer tires over pneumatic. So, why not invest in solid rubber tires today?
