Bavarian Agency for Technical Relief Responds Faster with 6,000 Motorola Solutions TETRA Pagers

IDSTEIN, Germany – July 9, 2020 – When emergencies strike, fast communication between first responders is key. In order to reach their volunteer workers in cases of emergency, the Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) has chosen to equip their first responders with 6,000 reliable and easy-to-use ADVISOR TPG2200 TETRA two-way pagers from Motorola Solutions.

The THW is responsible for technical-logistic operations of the German federal government. It provides assistance after storms and floods, ensures emergency repairs as well as supplies and ensures the communication for large-scale operations. During the Coronavirus crisis, the THW teams have set up mobile stations for medical tests and supported the Federal Police in border controls, lighting and with the set up of temporary accommodations. The teams have also ensured the distribution of protective equipment such as face masks and hand sanitizer on behalf of the Federal State of Bavaria to the local disaster control organisations.

Motorola Solutions TETRA two-way pagers provide the Bavarian THW with optimised availability through the TETRA digital radio network, high usability, a lightweight but rugged design, IP54 certification for dust protection and protection against splashing water, as well as long 48 hours battery life. In case of an emergency, volunteers can quickly read and respond to messages via the bright, 2-inch colour display. In addition, the Motorola Solutions TETRA two-way pager provides optional GPS tracking.

“The requirements for first responders including the Agency for Technical Relief are constantly increasing – not only during the Coronavirus crisis. Fast and reliable alerting and responding is of crucial importance,” said Axel Kukuk, country manager for Germany at Motorola Solutions. “We are pleased that with our digital pager, the emergency services of the Agency for Technical Relief in Bavaria will be able to communicate even more efficiently in the future, helping to protect the citizens of the federal state.”

“We are very pleased with this framework agreement. It will enable us to remain at the same technical level as our partners in Bavaria`s integrated emergency system. Just like them, we will also be able to raise an alarm at any time in the future”, emphasized Dr. Fritz-Helge Voß, THW state representative for Bavaria.

To ensure efficiency and reduce operational costs, the THW also relies on the Integrated Terminal Management (iTM) solution from Motorola Solutions. iTM automates tasks like software upgrades and helps to save operational costs.
