The Benefits of Centrifugal Pumps

Whether you’re a company trying to determine which pump your product needs or you’re merely looking for a pump to use at home, there are dozens of options. One type of pump you’ve certainly encountered whether you knew it or not is a centrifugal pump. There just so happens to be several benefits of centrifugal pumps; learn what they are in our guide below.

Considerably Compact

When considering the numerous different types of pumps, centrifugal pumps have one noticeable difference—their size. Whether you’re implementing the pump into your company’s daily operations or a product you’re developing, a lot of industrial pumps take up too much space. The compact design of centrifugal pumps makes them suitable for a variety of different applications.

Simple Operation

Much like the compact design, centrifugal pumps have another noticeable difference and that’s their simple mechanical design and workflow. Anyone who uses pumps should also understand how they work. Luckily, understanding centrifugal pumps is extremely easy. In general, the fundamental component of a centrifugal pump is a rotating impeller—that’s it. The fluid enters the impeller’s eye and exits the impeller’s vanes; however, this is obviously a simplified version. In addition to the general components, you should also note the lack of components. Most centrifugal pumps don’t have valves or additional moving parts.

Low-Maintenance

Because centrifugal pumps are small and simple, they’re much easier to maintain and repair—why is that a benefit? Because most pumps will require a professional’s attention for any basic maintenance which gets expensive over time. With that being said, you will need a professional repair service occasionally. Think of the pump like your car. You can easily change your car’s oil and brakes yourself, but if your catalytic converter goes bad, you should probably bring the car to a mechanic.

There are several additional benefits of centrifugal pumps including their adaptability and cost savings. Almost everybody can use a centrifugal pump whether you’re in the oil and gas, agriculture, food processing, manufacturing, or pharmaceutical industry. The adaptability is unlike anything else, so give centrifugal pumps a chance.
