Ways To Improve Warehouse Communication

Whether your warehouse focuses on shipping and receiving medical supplies or you handle manufacturing, communication is key. Without effective communication, warehouses are not efficient or profitable, and workers could get hurt. Every warehouse can improve their communication in one way or another. Read our list below if you want to learn a few ways to improve warehouse communication.

Provide Radios for Each Team Member

Most warehouses are loud environments, and it is not realistic to ask employees to yell over the machinery. You need to provide an effective but affordable means for everyone to communicate, and most warehouses find radios to be the most practical solution. Many warehouse owners and management leaders believe radios are outdated, but high-quality radios are worth the purchase.

Improve Cell Range for Radio Communication

Unfortunately, the radios by themselves are not enough. Everyone needs to understand the person on the other end of the radio, meaning you need a proper connection. You should learn how to improve the cell range—that just means the connection between the radios using hardware such as antennas.

Develop a Radio Standard for Everyone To Follow

There is nothing worse than multiple people trying to talk on a radio at one time. You can significantly improve the warehouse’s communication by setting a radio standard. There are plenty of guides about radio etiquette online if you need help. Most people like to create specific radio channels for different departments to reduce the number of people per channel. If you have a small team, different channels might not be necessary, and you could get by using terminology like “over.”

Far too many warehouses fail at communication merely because they do not provide an effective communication tool. Radios are the best option for warehouses because they are durable and reliable. Using radios is definitely one of the best ways to improve warehouse communication.
