3 Benefits of Recycling

The act of recycling is becoming more popular as more people attempt to adopt eco-friendly habits in their homes and workplaces. Though recycling has been around for decades, there are some who still do not know much about its associated services or benefits. Look into recycling services Fort Lauderdale FL to obtain information about environmentally friendly scrap metal and electronic waste disposal. Here is a list of three benefits of recycling.

1. It Conserves Energy

It takes less energy to make items from recycled products than it does to make them from raw materials. For instance, it requires 40% less energy to make paper from recycled paper products than it does to make it from wood pulp. In addition, it requires 95% less energy to make aluminum from recycled metal products, such as crushed soda cans and pieces of foil, than it does to make it from metals extracted directly from the Earth. Making steel from recycled metal also saves a substantial amount of energy. Note that creating products from recycled materials also yields fewer carbon emissions than creating products from raw materials.

2. It Preserves Wildlife

Recycling helps wildlife because it reduces the demand for the raw materials found in several animal habitats. Oftentimes, ecosystems are disrupted because of the need to access raw materials; forests are cleared to acquire timber, and bodies of water are disturbed to extract specific metals and minerals. Recycling helps decrease this need for raw materials, ensuring that fewer animal habitats are damaged, destroyed, or polluted. It also protects wildlife because it lessens the presence of plastic products, such as water bottles, in oceans, seas, and other areas where aquatic animals reside.

3. It Creates Green Jobs

Recycling leads to the creation of green jobs. One such job is that of a recyclable materials collector–he or she facilitates the pickup and transport of recyclable materials. Another such job is that of a recyclable materials sorter–he or she sorts recyclable materials so that they can be adequately processed. A route manager is another type of green job that stems from the act of recycling; route managing involves developing schedules and routes so that recyclable materials can be collected and transported effectively and efficiently.

It would be beneficial for the human population and the planet if more people recycled. There are many resources available that can help people better understand the social, economic, and environmental value of recycling.
