GovX Raises Over $5,700 for OUR MILITARY KIDS Nonprofit Organization

A fundraising effort organized by GovX—the online shopping site exclusively for current and former military, first responders, and federal employees—has raised over $5,700 for Our Military Kids, Inc., a Veteran run nonprofit that provides extra-curricular activity grants to military children.

The GovX community raised the funds with individual purchases of the December entry in the Patch of the Month series. The limited-edition patch honored the 79th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Our Military Kids is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports the K-12 children of our nation’s servicemembers. The nonprofit primarily assists the families of deployed National Guard and Reserve service members and the children of severely injured servicemembers and Veterans from every branch. The nonprofit issues grants up to $300 which help pay for activities that help children cope with the stress and anxiety many experience while their parents are deployed or recovering from injuries.

“We are proud once again to partner with Our Military Kids for this GovX Gives Back effort,” said Alan Cole, GovX CEO. “My father served for 34 years in the military, so I understand the challenges children face when their parents are deployed, and why it’s so important that organizations like Our Military Kids exist. I’m grateful to everyone in the GovX community who added the new patch to their collection in support of this cause.”

“GovX Gives Back is a tremendous initiative that gives nonprofits like Our Military Kids important exposure with the key audiences we share,” said Kara Dallman, the organization’s executive director. “In addition, the fundraiser will ensure 20 military kids are able to receive activity grants which are especially critical to our families’ morale during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thanks to all who purchased a patch!”

The charitable effort for December marked the final GovX fundraiser of the year, bringing the total funds raised by the company to over half a million dollars. The GovX Gives Back program started in October of 2015 and has since raised a total of $565,000 for nonprofits serving the military and first responder communities.
