Protecting and productivity with iPad mini 5 on a budget with ProCase

There are hundreds if not thousands of different keyboard folios cases for iPad’s

Today we are going to cover one made by a company called Pro Case. What made me look into this company was for my iPad mini 5 I ordered “ProCase iPad Mini 5 7.9″ 2019 Smart Case”. It cost $16 and felt almost as good as the apple variant which was much more expensive.

Bulky but sturdy. But really it will be a little bulky there is a keyboard in there.  Without the keyboard it is a little slimmer but I feel safer with this case then the smart case I bought. The cover portion looks to be made from an almost TPU like material it has a faux leather look with comes in handy for extra grip. Folds nice and smooth with little to no resistance like some other case I have tried from this material. There is a flap that wraps over the right side to keep everything secure. If you drop it you will be happy it is there.

Inside the iPad is secured with a TPU case that is connected to the cover. The TPU case hold iPad in tight. If you have a screen protector make sure it is 100% centred because the case wraps tight over the edges so it will pop off your glass screen protector, as I found out ☹

On the left inside of the cover are 3 dents to adjust your viewing angle. Covers most useful angles. One the same left side is where your wireless Bluetooth keyboard resides. The magnets holding it on are strong I never felt like it was going to slide off. In fact, might be little to strong.

Pairing the keyboard is simple. Hold down connect till Bluetooth light blinks, search on iPad, select device and enter pass code. The keyboard has a toggle for power on and off in top right of keyboard, connect button to the left of that and 4 lights beside that.  The lights are a power indicator, a charge indicator, Bluetooth and caps lock.

The keyboard is thin to keep the case smaller but that means there is a fair amount of flex in the body. The plastics sound and feel creeeeeeky. If it was to come out and hit the floor there is a good chance it will break from impact.  As the keyboard is small it is not ideal for long typing sessions. This is not a design flaw it is a size factor. Keys are actually decently spaced out for the size. Solid travel on the keys but obviously not mechanical. Keyboard has about every special function on it for from HOME to your audio controls. When using a smaller format like this some key sizes and location slightly differently so you will need to get comfortable with it.  It charges via micro USB.

I have used it since Jan 22 and have not had to charge keyboard.

Overall, I have been happy with the purchase for the price. Solid case, removable keyboard, under $60

Only critic is the flex and thinness of the keyboard.
