Essential Apps Every Man Needs On His Phone
Ever since the first Apple smartphone came out in 2007, we’ve been addicted to these pocket-size computers. They just add so much value to our lives, to the point where we can hardly put the darn things down.
Just think about the number of functions the apps on your phone serve. Want a date? There’s an app for that. Want to order food? There’s another app for that. Want to make yourself look like a duck? Guess what, there’s an app for that.
The question for the modern man isn’t so much, what apps do I have? It’s, what apps am I missing?
The following post takes a look at some of the top apps every man needs in his life right now.
Jamie Oliver’s Recipes
Our boy Jamie has a knack for coming up with interesting flavor combinations that don’t take you out of your comfort zone. He’s able to mix ingredients in such a way that it tastes both familiar and new at the same time. Kind of genius when you think about it.
But buying his books or hopping onto the man’s website is a chore. You don’t want to waste your time doing that.
Fortunately, you can now download Jamie Oliver’s Recipes in the form of an app. There are instructions, videos, and extra guidance to ensure that you follow the method of the great chef himself. It features seasonal recipes that use delicious ingredients. And, most importantly, it’s totally free.
Untappd
Imagine if there was an app that helps you discover beers. Well, it turns out that there is.
It’s called “Untappd” and it is a community platform that attempts to bring beer-lovers together to discuss their ideas. It lets you keep tabs on the latest beers in your collection, new beers arriving from breweries near you soon, and it tells you if local bars have started stocking your beers.
It also has a badge system. The more beers you try, the more digital commendations you get. It’s a little bit like “achievements” in video games.
Splice
Splice is a nice little tool that allows you to edit videos on the fly. Again, it’s free, and it lets you do things like add custom audio and interesting transitions.
If you’re running out of space to store all your video files, be sure to check out iCloud Storage Full: How to free up space in iCloud over on MacPaw. Yes – you’ll need a lot of space to run this app. But there are still plenty of free storage options out there and ways to get rid of files you no longer need.
Mint
Mint is an app that allows you to manage your finances and money. Think of it as a kind of digital wallet that lets you keep track of all the comings and goings on your account.
Mint isn’t meant to fix your finances outright. It can’t do that. But it can show you where you’re headed.
For instance, it’s got an incoming and outgoing feature, showing you how much money you made in the last month, and how much you spent. You can use this tool to see where your finances will be in 6, 9, and even 24 months, given your current earning and spending.
Mint also has the benefits of being super secure. So even if you lose your phone, people still won’t be able to access your account information.
Evernote
In today’s hectic world, being organized is a tough gig. There’s just so much going on, both in the real world, and online.
Evernote positions itself as a solution to this. It lets you work harder, remember stuff, and jot things down before you forget them. You can also use it to communicate your ideas and sync with other devices.
If you’re a part of a team, Evernote is indispensable. You can communicate with colleagues and get inspired – great for remote working.
BucketListly
Poor old BucketListly. Before the pandemic, it was one of the most popular apps out there for men. But thanks to various lockdowns, nobody is paying it any attention.
The world, however, is going to open up soon. Governments, in their mercy, are going to allow people to live their lives as free individuals once more. And so apps like this are going to be making a big comeback.
What does BucketListly do? Simple: It allows you to plan your trips, create journal entries and share all your vacation snaps with your friends.
It’s almost like having a personal travel blogger tool by your side at all times. If you want to share your experiences with others, the app makes it ridiculously easy to do so.
Houzz
Interior design can sometimes feel a little challenging for us men. But not to worry: Houzz has an app that can help.
The app has three basic functions.
- It provides you with design ideas. Think about how hard it is to come up with a fully-fleshed-out interior yourself. You have to go through the creative process, and that’s never easy. That’s why Houzz provides you with thousands of high-quality photographs of interiors, showing you the kind of thing you could have.
- It lets you search for home professionals. Need a hand with your interiors? You can get help from experts via the Houzz app.
- You can shop for high-quality products. Finally, you can actually buy some of the objects depicted in pictures via the platform, allowing you to easily bring other people’s visions to life in your home.
In other words, it’s a one-stop-shop for all your interior design needs, helping you to progress faster than you would otherwise.
Minute Workout
It’s important for a young man to be fit and strong. But training these days is virtually impossible, thanks to the current crisis.
Fortunately, Minute Workout has you covered. This app, developed by Wahoo Fitness, provides pretty much everything you need for your daily exercise routine. You get workout videos, descriptions of exercise routines, and interactive prompts. You can also upgrade to premium services if you need additional instruction.
