How To Add More Movement Into Your Workday

Your mind is always on the move all day long when you are at the office or workplace. Either you’re fielding calls from clients, writing down proposals, or delivering a presentation, you are moving your body and exercising your brain throughout the workday.

Doing physical movement is another story completely. The office setting doesn’t necessarily give itself to activity, and even with just that morning cardio session, professionals say that there are still not enough movements in your workday. Sitting for a long period can be very harmful to your heart and also to your overall health.

You can still make efforts to do some movements or exercise while you are outside of the office, but you could also make conscious decisions to move more while you work in the office.

The following tips will encourage you to add a bit of movement to your office-bound workdays.

Hold Mobile Meetings During The Work Day

A check-in with a few team members doesn’t have to always take place in your office. Rather, talk about what needs attention while you walk around the office halls together during the workday.

If you are scheduled to cover sensitive information at an upcoming gathering, there are other ways to get yourself moving similarly. Try bringing your lunch break on the go instead, whether inside or outside of the office.

While it may seem more efficient to eat breakfast at your desk as you work, a walking lunch will help give you a gush of energy that will boost you up throughout the rest of the workday.

Create a New Commute

Driving is one of the most stressful means of commuting. Such as office work, it’s an idle activity, and that indicates it too can cause anxiety, which, in turn, advances itself to weight gain and other negative impacts on the body. The stress makes you feel more fatigued at the end of the day, which wouldn’t motivate you to do any exercise afterward.

Change things up by commuting more actively. If you are lucky enough to live close to your workplace you should consider walking to work instead of you driving. If you’re very lucky that your office has a shower in it, you can even do some morning cardio sessions in the office.

You can also come by bicycle or a skating route. Even following public transport will inspire more movement, since you will probably have to walk down from your house to the bus or train station and then drop to your office from the nearest stop.

Bring in Fit-Minded Furniture

Office furniture isn’t all that exciting. More likely, everyone in your workplace has the same table and chair, and possibly the same cubicle walls, too. And, the atmosphere there doesn’t do much to keep your heart rate going: in fact, you may find yourself slipping at your desk, which can result in aches and pains.

Fortunately, fit-minded furniture can be found in some offices around the country and other office workers have tested it before giving positive results. So you can try switching out your desk or chair for a workout ball

Balancing on the ball comforts and strengthens your core since you are no longer lying on the back of your chair to keep you upright. You may even do some simple workouts on it during the day if you have some privacy in your workplace or office.

Engaging in Indoor Gardening

Nutrition specialist, says that indoor gardening can indeed aid with weight loss and it is also a method to do more movement. For instance, a good practice would be to make use of indoor grow tents, there would be a lot of movement to keep your indoor grow tent clean and tidy from anything flammable. Using quality light installations, helps keep electronics away from water, and any other thing that could damage your indoor garden.

Referring to a study that links indoor gardening and nutrition and physical health among workers. In the end, gardening occurred to have a reasonably positive effect on BMI reduction. “I think the mental health and stress-related advantages that indoor gardening gives linked with the fact that it helps keep you out of the kitchen or office, where working and eating often takes place, it can also help with weight loss as well.

Conclusion

These are not the only ways to start making some movement while you work, however, it is a good place to start. And, once you discover the base level of what perfectly works for you, you may add more until you have got a good routine in place. From there, it will be nothing but enhanced fitness, and there is not better than that in your workday.
