Tips for Making Cars Look Good As New

The more you use a car, the more its pristine appearance fades away. Thankfully, there are easy ways to preserve your vehicle’s beauty and performance. Below, you’ll find three tips for making cars look good as new. By using these tips regularly, you can keep your ride from falling victim to common car troubles.

Inspect for Imperfections

First and foremost, thoroughly inspect your car—both inside and out. Even over the course of several weeks, a new car can accrue all kinds of dings, scrapes, scratches, and holes. Whether the damage is on your paint, window, or tires, promptly make any repairs and replacements. The longer you wait to make car repairs, the worse the damage will get.

Whether you need to seek professional help for car troubles depends on the damage’s extent. For example, a good body repair kit should assist with patching up cuts and holes. However, if your tires are chunking, you should seek replacements. Routine inspections go a long way when keeping a car in great shape.

Make Routine Replacements

As mentioned above, excessive tire damage is cause for replacements. That said, there are other replacements worth making. For instance, windshield wipers should improve visibility and cleanliness simultaneously. After months of use, those windshield wipers begin wearing, and their performance will diminish. As a result, instead of cleaning water and other materials on the windshield, the wipers will smear them around. Suffice it to say, this won’t help cleanliness or visibility at all. Depending on how often you drive, replace windshield wipers every six to 12 months. That way, you can keep those wipers (and your windshield) consistently clean.

Next, let’s move to the interior—floor mats. These mats keep your car floors free of crumbs and other unseemly debris. Every so often, you remove the mats and shake off the debris or vacuum them. However, over time, floor mats will wear and shift on the ground, hindering their performance. To keep the floor mats useful and presentable, replace them annually. In fact, you can schedule your windshield wiper and floor mat replacements on the same day annually if your driving habits support such a schedule.

Commit to Comprehensive Cleaning

If “good as new” is what you’re going for, then commit to a thorough cleaning of every nook and cranny. Wash the seats, windows, and the entire exterior—there are even methods for cleaning your tires to ensure every component looks equally attractive. Aside from washing everything down, vacuum throughout the entire vehicle, cleaning up any crumbs, debris, and other unfriendly contaminants dirtying up the place. Consider washing and vacuuming your car weekly to ensure it remains consistently clean and sheen. If you ever ask an auto enthusiast about tips for making cars look good as new, one of the first tips they provide will be to clean the car thoroughly and regularly.
