New to blogging: How to set up and design your first website

Do you love to write, but you are not necessarily an author? Have you thought about blogging? Blogging these days can be about anything. It is amazing what people like to read about! What do you love? You can blog about your family, kids, pets, travels, and so much more!! So why not make some good money blogging!

What is a Blog and Should I Start One?

A blog is described as a type of website that focuses on mainly written content. It is a regularly updated website that is published, typically written in an informal or conversational style, and often with the goal of attracting readers and generating an online income. Bloggers write from their personal experiences. Most blogs allow for the readers to post comments. Starting a blog doesn’t mean that you have to be a great writer. Anyone can blog. To be successful all you need is to be passionate about your topic. Blogging allows you to share your story, make money from home, and self-recognition for having your own business.

How to gain from blogging

There are a few ways for beginners to make money. One is affiliate marketing where you simply promote other people’s products on your blog, and when someone makes a purchase, you make a commission off it. Another is writing eBooks. You don’t have to write a novel. It’s not 100 pages, it’s just a longer blog! You just need to make sure it’s a topic you know well, can write about it and it’s a topic that is interesting enough for your readers to buy from you.

The next step up from ebooks is creating and selling online courses. There is also freelance writing. When your blog has little traffic, freelance writing is a great way to start and make money blogging, for beginners without having to wait around. Adsense is an advertising platform owned by Google and one of the most common ways of making money from blogging for beginners. You sign up and allow the Google ad platform to place ads on your blog. You can choose where and how many ads to show.

Choosing a Name and Topic

Finding a good topic is really not as hard as it may sound. You can use your life experiences, your hobbies, and passions, or a personal blog that is all about you. A good name should be descriptive so that your readers know instantly what your blog is about. The best way to come up with the perfect name is to start with brainstorming. Analyze what topics your audience is interested in. What do they like hearing about? What topics do you have expertise in? What topic engages your audience the most? Combine words and phrases until something stands out to you. Your blog’s niche is the general topic area that you’ll be focusing your content around. Examples include topics like travel, food, fashion, lifestyle, technology, and otherwise.

Building Your Website

You don’t want to blog and not get paid for it! This means that you need to know how to build your website from scratch. If you are still learning how to build a website from scratch, you should still think about the website design. Everyone has their own ideas of how they want their website to look. A lot of website creators have themes already that you can choose from and still make it your own design. You will need web hosting and a domain name. Coming up with the domain should be the same name as the name of your blog. This will make it easy for your followers to find you. You just need to make sure that it is not already taken.

Final Words

Just remember that blogging can be a fun money maker. You don’t need a degree in journalism or be a published author to be a blogger. Make it personal, create your own flow and your own website. Make it yours! Remember that as a beginner you might need to come up with other ways to make money on your blogging like Google Ads, freelance writing, etc. Find your niche and start writing.
