Hobbies for Adventurous Men

Reading or playing video games is a great hobby accessible to many guys out there. However, they involve you staying at home and not moving off your couch—these hobbies won’t do for any active, adrenaline-thirsty man. If you’re a true adventurer by nature, here are a few hobbies to consider that will satisfy your need for excitement, exploration and adventure.

Paintball

Paintball is a great hobby that mixes fun, physical and mental activity, and a little bit of danger. Gearing up and reserving equipment and game space might cost some money, but what you’ll get in return are true life enrichment and great physical activity. When playing with a good team, paintball will teach your strategy, planning, cooperation, and implementation, but you’ll also train your brain to make better assessments of your environment and pick up small details. If you don’t turn on your brain and strain your muscles, you’ll end up with a colorful reminder to be better next time.

Dark tourism

If regular travel doesn’t do much for you, dark tourism is a great way to spice things up. Dark tourism is a hobby that will take you to many strange, twisted and scary places like haunted houses, disaster sites, concentration camps, atom bombing sites, etc. If normal travel bores you, these dark destinations will awaken your fight-or-flight instinct and make you wonder what kind of beasts you share this planet with.

Rock climbing

Unless you’re scared of heights, or especially if you’re scared of heights, you can take up rock climbing. This is a hobby with minimal investments. If you join a club, you can share all the gear with other people yet save all the skill and knowledge for yourself. Through rock climbing, you’ll learn how to analyze your environment, plan your moves and use your body to reach your goals. And when you succeed to climb the obstacle, you will be overwhelmed with the knowledge that you rose to the occasion.

Sailing

If you’ve always been attracted to the ocean and the crashing waves, your insatiable lust for open water can be pacified with sailing. The rolling waves, merciless winds and cold water spray will definitely get your adrenaline running. Sailing is fun in all of its shapes. You can enjoy your luxury residential village experience in the Mediterranean and join endless cruising sessions around the harbor. When this gets boring, you can even join a sailboat race hosted by yacht clubs. You’ll see some amazing places through this hobby and learn how to navigate and survive out on the sea.

Nature photography

Many guys think that photography is a boring hobby, but if you choose to take photos of nature, photography will quickly turn you into a true adventurer risking your life to get a great shot. Nature photography will take you outdoors to some pretty amazing places as you also sharpen your eye for composition, lighting and dimension.

Geocaching

If you have a group of friends thirsty for adventure and excitement, you can take up geocaching. This is an adult spin on the beloved scavenger hunt games. As you explore nature in search of your target, you’ll need to use your navigation abilities and to get around in nature like a pro. This is a hobby that will push you to exercise both your body and mind all at once.

Foraging

Foraging is not a new thing—humans have been doing it for millennia. Today, we don’t have the need to explore nature for food, but it’s still very exciting and fun to find the fresh fruits of Mother Earth. This hobby is great for all guys who want to be active in nature yet also come back home with organic food straight from the source. On your exploration trips, you’ll find everything from berries to nuts and different mushrooms and roots to add to your dishes. Your foraging trips will take you through forests, wildlands and even force you to climb trees and dive into creeks.

Archery

Another way to go back in time and try living as your ancestors is through archery. If you find a good range, you can get all the gear and instructions on the spot, but buying your own bow and arrows isn’t too expensive either. Through archery, you’ll develop amazing strength and also work on your focus and patience. Plus, you’ll simply look super cool with a bow.

Investing

Here’s a different kind of adventure hobby—investing. This hobby requires some money in advance, but it can bring amazing returns. If you use your planning, prediction and observation skills, you’ll invest your money in the right place and end up with great profits. There’s no better way to experience adrenaline and adventure.

Brewing beer

If you need a manly hobby to practice at home, you can’t go wrong with homebrewing your own beer. Through experimentation and your own knowledge of beer, you’ll explore different worlds of chemistry and physics and reap amazing rewards. A starter kit for craft beer is not very expensive, and as you get better, you can upgrade your gear and go on different brewing adventures.

There are many more adventure hobbies out there, but these cover a wide range of skills, requirements and fitness levels. No matter which one you choose to try, you’ll end up happy and fulfilled.
