Each year, Healthgrades evaluates hospital performance at nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide for 32 of the most common inpatient procedures and conditions using Medicare data as well as some all-payer data. Healthgrades is an independent organization created to help consumers understand, compare and evaluate hospital performance by providing objective, comprehensive information about hospital quality in America’s hospitals.
Healthgrades evaluates hospitals based solely on patient outcomes—risk-adjusted mortality and in-hospital complications. They recognize the top performing hospitals in the nation that have achieved clinical excellence and high patient safety scores in particular specialties.
The 2022 Healthgrades Specialty Excellence Awards recognize hospitals that deliver superior patient outcomes across the most common in-hospital procedures and conditions, including surgical care, critical care, cardiac care and surgery, gastrointestinal care and surgery, bariatric surgery and ten other specialties.
