Land Ho! Action-Packed 6v6 Pirate Arcade Game “Plunder Panic” Releases on September 16, 2022; Play it At PAX West 2022

All hands on deck! Independent developer Will Winn Games announced today at PAX West 2022 that its 6v6 pirate-themed multiplayer arcade game, Plunder Panic, sets sail for launch on September 16, 2022 — on Windows PC/Mac, PlayStation 4|5, Xbox One and Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Steam Deck with full cross-platform play!

To celebrate the launch date, a Plunder Panic tournament begins tonight between 8pm and 10pm PST during PAX West, in the PC Room on Level 3 of the Annex, and will be freely available to play at the show on all PAX PC Freeplay stations.

Inspired by classic SNES games, Plunder Panic blends retro graphics, arcadey action, and a boatload of online (and offline) gameplay modes and options to shiver even the most hardened pirates’ timbers. Two teams of up to six players must go all hands on deck and face off against each other, utilizing a variety of weapons, enchanted items, and power-ups. In addition to matchmaking online, players can play together locally with as many controllers supported on their respective platforms. Cross-play also enables online matchmaking across all versions of the game.

In Plunder Panic, quick, round-based matches begin as rival teams anchor their ships on the same island. Only the scurviest dogs will prevail once the action starts. Victory becomes within reach if the rival team loses either too much of their gold, their ship gets scuttled, or if their precious captain takes a trip to Davy Jones’ locker. It’s up to teams to decide on an offensive or defensive approach!

While in Early Access, Plunder Panic proved quite a hit with critics and content creators alike:

  • “Plunder Panic is sure to be a hit for those looking for a fast-paced competitive title.” — Gaming Trend

  • “The Switch is the ideal system for multiplayer gaming, and Plunder Panic is an Indie title … that may well be the perfect fit.” — Nintendo Life

  • This is definitely a Gong Show winner, you can see how fun this is.” — Trisha Hershberger

  • “…one of the most enjoyable experiences we had on the (PAX East 2022) show floor.” – Ars Technica

In addition to winning the IndieCade Audience Choice Award, Plunder Panic added another feather in its hat as a PAX Rising Showcase winner at PAX East 2022.

Through its Early Access journey to launch, Will Winn Games worked with the enthusiastic Plunder Panic player community to expand and refine the game, including adding a variety of updates, improvements, and new content including the ‘Reinforcements’ and ‘Conquest’ game modes, unique islands to plunder, and a redesigned party system. In addition, the music and SFX have been remastered, along with barnacles full of bug fixes, optimizations, and improvements to ensure that the pirate’s life is fun for all!

You can grab Plunder Panic on Steam now for a limited time pre-launch price of $9.99! The game will officially launch out of Steam Early Access as well as onto PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Steam Deck on September 16, 2022, for $19.99 USD.
