Atari’s Missile Command: Recharged Available Now on PC and Consoles

Get to your station, Commander. There are cities to protect!

Today, historic retro publisher Atari releases the revamp of their very first Recharged title: Missile Command: Recharged. The debut title of the Atari Recharged series, Missile Command: Recharged releases today with a full upgrade and reimagined as a brand new title. Available on both PC and all major consoles, this re-revamped take on the classic introduces more power-ups, new enemies, updated visuals, a stellar soundtrack, and a suite of challenges that test the skills of even the most capable commanders.

To address the elephant in the room: there was indeed an original release of Missile Command: Recharged. Being the first title in the Recharged series’ lineup, Atari decided to go back and upgrade the title with all they’ve learned after releasing six additional Recharged games. Atari’s revamped Missile Command: Recharged equips the game with fresh content and a whole new gaming experience, drawing inspiration from later releases such as Gravitar: RechargedYars: RechargedBlack Widow: RechargedAsteroids: RechargedCentipede: Recharged, and Breakout: Recharged.

Missile Command: Recharged is an innovative, neon-soaked take on the cult-classic arcade game. Lovingly created by seasoned development teams Adamvision Studios and SneakyBox, this new take on Missile Command features more oncoming foes, 32 challenging new stages, and a penultimate boss encounter that really tests the skills honed throughout the game. Aside from implementing co-op in all game modes, the title received a total visual overhaul and a brand-new original soundtrack by award-winning composer Megan McDuffee.

Key Features of Missile Command: Recharged Include:

  • Power Yourself Up to Shoot ‘Em Down: Don’t just target missiles – take aim at all-new power-ups that award special tools, including powerful missiles, shields, and even a screen-clearing special blast
     
  • Unlockable Upgrades: In Arcade Mode, use accumulated points you earn to upgrade defensive attributes that will keep you in the game longer – if you use them wisely!
     
  • Local Co-op with a Co-Pilot: Tag in a friend to play any mode in local co-op and coordinate to fend off the enemy onslaught
     
  • King of the Leaderboard: Compete in global leaderboards and aim to claim bragging rights as the top missile commander

Missile Command: Recharged is now available on SteamPlayStation 4|5Xbox X|SNintendo Switch, and Atari VCS for $9.99. Fans who purchased the original ($2.99) will retain access to that version and will receive a 30% discount on the new version.
