Generous Donation from Wright Automotive Group Enables AHN Wexford Hospital to Provide Safe, Eco-Friendly Transportation for Employees

Allegheny Health Network (AHN) Wexford Hospital announced today that a generous donation received by Wright Automotive Group has supported the purchase of a new electric shuttle that will assist employees in getting to and from the hospital and the employee parking garage.

Transportation via the shuttle will be offered to all AHN Wexford Hospital caregivers and staff, free of charge and at all hours. The employee parking garage is located across from the AHN Wexford Health + Wellness Pavilion along Wallace Road Extension.

“It brings us great pleasure to be able to ensure safe passage for our employees from the parking garage to our facility, particularly during this time of year when there is less daylight and colder weather,” said Allan Klapper, MD, president of the hospital. “We are very grateful to Wright Automotive for such a unique and generous contribution to Wexford Hospital.”

The eco-friendly shuttle features six passenger capacity; double-hinged doors for added strength and tighter weather seal to protect from the elements; heating and air conditioning; a roof-mounted yellow beacon light to add visibility inside the garage; and an Amber mechanical security light bar. Courtesy of Wright Automotive, the vehicle is wrapped in AHN Wexford and Wright Automotive branding.

“Having been a part of the Wexford community since 1927, we have quickly recognized the tremendous value brought by AHN Wexford Hospital to local residents,” said Ken Wright, owner, Wright Automotive Group. “With many of the hospital’s patients being our neighbors, friends and customers, we could not be happier to provide an environmentally-friendly vehicle that will greatly support the health and safety of its employees.”

Opened in September 2021, the 160-bed hospital includes a 24-bed emergency department with pediatric-capable rooms; state-of-the-art operating rooms with minimally invasive robotic surgery capabilities; cardiac catheterization lab and hybrid OR for advanced surgical procedures; short-stay observation unit; adult intensive care unit (ICU); labor & delivery (L&D) unit; neonatal intensive care unit (NICU); advanced diagnostic imaging; and more. The hospital employs more than 700 individuals.
