The February Edition of Steam Next Fest kicks off today, and we’re reaching out with some details about a few of the games we’re working on with demos available to play! Learn more about each of them below and consider sharing them with your audience before Steam Next Fest concludes on February 13th!

Fall of Porcupine // Assemble Entertainment

Assemble Entertainment’s Fall of Porcupine follows Finley, a freshly graduated med school student preparing for his first residency in a brand new small town that seems warm and inviting…at first. Finley must lean on his friends for advice and support as he navigates an “unhealthy” healthcare industry rooting for his demise, all while prioritizing his mental health and self-care. The game is a heartfelt, important tale about the hardships endured by healthcare workers, while also delivering itself as a love letter to the human journey of self-discovery, self-love, and the joys that come with life’s small (and big) accomplishments.

The game launches later in 2023 on PC via Steam and GOG, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Series X|S, and PlayStation 4|5.

Heart Core Games // Gripper

Gripper is a challenging, Akira-inspired, boss fight on wheels from developer Heart Core LTD that’s coming soon to PC and Nintendo Switch. This one-of-a-kind action game puts players in the burnout seat of their very own cyberbike, in an exciting, emotionally charged story featuring difficult gameplay, menacing bosses, and a furious, dark synth score.

The 30-minute Steam Next Fest demo, features a taste of the fun that awaits in the full game, including two boss fights, bombastic tunnel traversal, and an introduction to the main emotional core of the game.

Gripper’s core gameplay loop consists of three phases: the Main Hub, Tunnels, and Boss Fights. The Main Hub is where players go to upgrade and customize their bikes, install consumables for the upcoming battle, and perhaps most importantly, talk to the adorably intense companion, Cat-Kit. Tunnels feature riding and sliding action set to catchy synthetic beats inspired by the work of Carpenter Brut. Lastly, the Boss Fights feature colossal enemy mechs that symbolize the different stages of grief, and each one has a different weak spot that requires a unique approach to survive. By learning the best strategies for each part of the game, players can help set the world right, defeat the great evil of Zero, and even have a chance at saving their parents.

Slave Zero X // Ziggurat Interactive

Ziggurat Interactive’s Slave Zero X, an exciting new action title set in the same world of the original Slave Zero (1999). The all-new game, coming to PC and consoles, features 2D side-scrolling action where players string together brutal combos while traversing a dangerous 2.5D world.

This new entry in the franchise is based on the concept drawings for the 1999 game. With a biopunk flare and H.R Giger influence, the original vision for Slave Zero couldn’t come to fruition due to budget and development time. Now, Poppyworks with Ziggurat Interactive, bring that original vision to life in this fast-paced, hard-hitting, character action game in the unforgettable dystopian world of Slave Zero X.
