US Navy Brings VIRTUAL Fleet Week to Your Hometown for Memorial Day
Starting May 24 and running through Memorial Day, U.S. Navy Sailors will be flooding into New York City for the annual Fleet Week festivities. Among the 2,400 U.S. Navy Sailors who will receive VIP, “Rock Star” status is Petty Officer Arlon Thompson, a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and a Sailor stationed aboard USS Oregon (SSN 793).
To virtually bring this patriotic event to your community, we would like to offer your media outlet the opportunity to do a LIVE INTERVIEW with Petty Officer Thompson straight from the Big Apple. Seeing this “Hometown Hero” in his summer white service uniform representing his Navy, his ship and his country will truly evoke hometown pride as we gather as a nation to commemorate Memorial Day.
Now in its 35th year, Fleet Week New York, offers the American public an unparalleled opportunity to meet our Sailors and learn about the Navy’s mission to defend our nation at home and abroad. And since we can’t bring your community to New York City, this is our way of bringing Fleet Week to you.
We are currently scheduling interviews which we will be conducting from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. (EDT), Wednesday, May 24; and 8 a.m. to 6:30 pm. (EDT), Thursday, May 25, and Friday, May 26. That’s 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (CDT), 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (MDT) and 5 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (PDT). If you are interested in hosting an interview, please contact Mr. Henry Rice at henry.w.rice2.civ@us.navy.mil or call (757)836-3623.
