Baby-In-Review: Ergobaby Away Carrier
Stop! Collaborate and listen! Ergobaby is back with a brand new invention! Something grabs ahold of baby tightly! Its the new Ergobaby Away Carrier! Alright, done with the throwback to Vanilla Ice and time to get serious about this review. Ergobaby has done it yet again! The Ergobaby Away Carrier has recently been released to the public for pre-order and I can now share my experience as we have had this for a bit of time prior to release. Read on to get the full story on this new carrier.
Features
The Ergobaby Carrier’s name does not do it justice for how convenient it actually is. The main feature of this carrier compared to others is just how easy it is to store. The carrier itself is already extremely light weight and soft. But it will actually roll up into itself and store in a convenient pouch that is actually attached to the carrier. Pictures below will show you more of what I mean. This is absolutely an incredible idea and my favorite part.
The storage being so small makes it easy to pop into a purse, diaper bag, or in the back of the car for quick access whenever you need it. The entire package also only weighs a whopping 1.3 pounds so extremely lightweight. We kept this one in the back of the car for quick trips and when we just wanted to pop him in and go. We were also able to use this with our friend’s baby who is much younger than our son. She fit very well and fell asleep pretty quickly after being snuggled up to my chest.
Unlike full carriers this one is built for front facing in carry or back carry. This isn’t a problem at all as those are the two most used ones. We were able to comfortably do both carries with no issues. As I said our friend’s baby absolutely loved the front facing in carry. She fit in snugly and her legs were perfectly situated for a safe ergonomic carry.
For the nursing parents out there you will be happy to know that this carrier is also nursing friendly! Simply loosen a shoulder strap and lower baby into position. The Ergobaby Away also has a baby hood built into the top to provide cover from the wind, sun, and a cover to allow the nursing mother and baby some much deserved privacy.
As I said it is lightweight, portable, easy to store and carry, it also has reflective lines on the front and back to keep you visible in low light situations if you’re out walking with baby. There is also a small loop that you can use to clip the carrier to stroller, backpack or where ever you want to strap it onto.
Color Options
The Ergobaby Away comes in two fantastic color options for your wearing pleasure. The first option, and the one we have and love, is a stunning graphite grey. I enjoy the grey because it literally goes with everything. No matter what you’re wearing it will look good with it. The other color option is Midnight Blue which is still a very beautiful color. As you can see it is extremely vibrant and eye catching as well.
Other Thoughts
Final thoughts and things that didn’t have a total topic space are included here. This carrier is not designed to be an all day carrier. This is perfect for quick trips to the store, going for a walk around the block, doing house chores and things like that. The Ergobaby Away is designed to carry babies from 12 lbs until 35 lbs. Usually around 4 months through 3 years roughly. Ergobaby Away is compatible with Drool Bibs, Drool Pads, All-Weather Cover, and Rain Cover. The carrier is also 100% machine washable which is AMAZING for when you have the messy baby with a blowout, drool, or spit up that happens all too often. Finally, the Ergobaby Away of course comes with the ErgoPromise Lifetime Guarantee. I doubt you will have to use it, but they do stand behind their product.
Final Thoughts
Overall, the Ergobaby Away might be my new favorite carrier I’v ever used. It is so lightweight, easy to pack and unpack, fits in the tightest places without adding weight to anything, and comes ready to go for babies of most sizes. The color is magnificent and gets all the compliments. The grey really accentuates my glorious Dad bod and mustache. The fact that it is completely machine washable always blows my mind. Being a parent is busy and stressful enough, having to disassemble an item to wash it is just a headache, so I am thankful for this simplicity.
