NASA Awards Aerospace Model Systems Fabrication Follow-On Contract
NASA has awarded the Reliance Consolidated Models VI (RECOM VI) contract to Advanced Technologies Inc. and Eagle Aviation Technologies, LLC, both of Newport News, Virginia, to support the fabrication of aerospace model systems and developmental test hardware managed by the agency’s Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia.
This follow-on contract provides cost-plus-award-fee core requirements and indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity, cost-plus-award-fee task orders. The basic period of performance is from Nov. 1, through Oct. 31, 2028, with the total maximum cumulative value for both contracts $30 million.
The RECOM VI contractor is responsible for support design and/or fabrication of aerospace model systems and developmental test hardware used for spaceflight, flight, spaceflight development, and ground-based tests supporting Langley, other NASA centers, and agency missions related to aeronautics, space, and science. These models may incorporate the use of new technologies such as smart materials, or new processes such as stereolithography and rapid prototyping using various materials from plastics, polymers, and metals.
The design and/or fabrication of models and test hardware will be performed offsite at the contractor’s facilities and could support multiple NASA mission areas, including the Artemis program. Some models and test hardware will be used for testing in wind tunnels at Langley but could also be used for testing in wind-tunnel facilities at other NASA facilities.
