WiFi in Pennsylvania: Data Reveals the Speediest Providers

  • Comcast’s Xfinity ranks as the best option for Pennsylvanians
  • Xfinity is most frequently the fastest provider with the best speed in 20 states
  • Cox provides the fastest speed in seven states, the second most of any provider

A study has unveiled the wifi provider in each state which offers the speediest internet access.

The research by Hostinger analyzed data uncovering the internet provider options available in each state, and the average speeds they provide in the state to establish the most successful providers nationwide as well as the best option for each state’s residents.

Pennsylvania’s speediest broadband provider is revealed to be Comcast’s Xfinity. The median download speed achieved in the state on Xfinity is 275.3mbps. This is closely followed by Astound Broadband, whose median download speed in the state comes in at 250.5mbps. In the third place, Verizon provides a median speed in PA of 230.7mbps.

Xfinity is the provider dominating the country with the highest speeds in more states than any other. The provider is the fastest option in 20 states. Nationwide the average median download speed for Xfinity customers is 275mpbs. In the big-tech state of California however, the median speed is as high as 284mbps, and in Colorado even higher at 294mpbs.

Cox provides the fastest internet option in seven states. While this is inferior to the 20 states topped by Xfinity, Cox’s nationwide average median download speed is slightly faster at 288mbps.

Google Fiber, while only available in relatively few states, has by far the fastest nationwide average median download speed of 337mbps. Google Fiber is the speediest option in five states, and in North Carolina and Utah average speeds provided are as fast as 366mbps.

Another prominent provider is AT&T Internet, which is available in as many as 21 states. However, AT&T only presents the speediest option in Texas, Wisconsin, and Florida, and has a nationwide average median download speed of 243mbps.

Interestingly, Elon Musk’s SpaceX Starlink, whilst supposedly available worldwide, is only used in a handful of states and provides a rather low nationwide average median download speed of just 75mpbs.

Eiviltas Paraščiakas, Head of Communications, at Hostinger spoke on the findings: “With broadband providers looking to one-up each other nationwide regularly, it’s interesting to see those who are providing the best services to the most Americans. It is clear that while some areas are spoiled for choice, there are places in the country whose only option is slow wifi.

“The World Wide Web constitutes a fundamental element of so much in modern society, especially in work and business, so connectivity speeds will be of interest to many relying on them. Interestingly no provider monopolizes the speediest connections. With the importance of download speeds in everything from dependable website hosting and seamless customer communication to smooth video conferencing and efficient payment processing, these findings will be invaluable to individuals and businesses seeking to secure the best broadband packages around the nation.”

I am the owner of Cerebral-overload.com and the Verizon Wireless Reviewer for Techburgh.com. My love of gadgets came from his lack of a Nintendo Game Boy when he was a child . I vowed from that day on to get his hands on as many tech products as possible. My approach to a review is to make it informative for the technofile while still making it understandable to everyone. Ben is a new voice in the tech industry and is looking to make a mark wherever he goes. When not reviewing products, I is also a 911 Telecommunicator just outside of Pittsburgh PA.
