“For our new Spring lineup of games, we wanted to offer customers highly engaging, interactive experiences that are also uncomplicated,” said Elan Lee, CEO & Co-Creator of Exploding Kittens. “In true Exploding Kittens style, we’re giving you the canvas to have an amazing time with your family and friends of all ages – whether you’re playing That Escalated Quickly or Danger Danger. These games are approachable for anyone to jump in and play at a party or family gathering.”

That Escalated Quickly – in stores January 8, 2024

That Escalated Quickly is a card game where up to eight players work together to put absurd answers in the right order. A reimagining of Top Ten, the 2022 Spiel Des Jahres (German Game of the Year) nominee from Cocktail Games, Exploding Kittens has rewritten all 160 questions with a clean and appealing card design while preserving the enduring game elements of one of Europe’s most popular party games.

The game kicks off with a player reading a question card aloud. Each card sets up a scenario such as, “I’m jumping out of an airplane. When I pull the ripcord, what comes out of my pack?” Meanwhile, the rest of the players are assigned a secret number between one and 10, which will determine how they answer the question based on the scale provided by the card. In the case of the airplane scenario, players answer with one being the “least effective” (an elephant wearing lead armor) to 10 being the “most effective” (a gigantic parachute with an extra backup gigantic parachute). The player who read the original question must then correctly rank the numerical order of each player’s answer. If the player guesses the correct order, everyone wins. Regardless of win or lose, rest assured that all players will be laughing throughout!

Top Ten has been a fan-favorite party game in Europe since its 2020 release and we hope That Escalated Quickly will see just as much success across the pond,” said Matthieu d’Epenoux, Owner of Cocktail Games. “Exploding Kittens is so beloved for its hilarious gameplay and passionate fanbase, so we knew they’d be the perfect partner to capture the experience for an English-speaking audience.”

Best for players ages 10 and up, That Escalated Quickly can be enjoyed by two to eight players, and only takes about 15 minutes to play (but you will play for hours), and is available now at Target, Amazon and ExplodingKittens.com for $19.99. The game will be available soon at Walmart.

Power Hungry Pets – in stores February 18, 2024

A strategy game for people who hate strategy games, Power Hungry Pets is a reimagining of Love Letter™ from Z-Man Games. Featuring Exploding Kittens’ adorable characters and signature artwork, this simple strategy game culminates in a mad grab for power. Each card features a number and a hilarious way to backstab, steal from, or obliterate the other players (all in good fun). Players hold one card at all times, draw a second card during their turn, and must decide which to keep and which to play – requiring only one decision at a time. In the end, the player left with the highest number card wins.

Best for players ages 7 and up, Power Hungry Pets can be enjoyed by two to eight players, and only takes about 15 minutes to play. Power Hungry Pets will be available at Target, Target.com, and ExplodingKittens.com for $14.99.

Danger Danger – in stores February 18, 2024

Danger Danger is a 1 minute card game with an evil twist you won’t see coming. Players draw and play cards as fast as they can for 60 seconds. Each card is worth a number of points, and the team with the most points showing at the end of the game wins. However, the timer in the game is hidden, so players never know how much time is left. If you’re still playing when the buzzer goes off, you instantly lose the game!

Best for players ages 7 and up, Danger Danger can be enjoyed by two to eight players, and will be available at Target, Target.com, and ExplodingKittens.com for $14.99.

Hoppy Salmon – in stores February 18, 2024

An adaptation of Exploding Kittens’ fan-favorite classic title Happy Salmon with an Easter twist, Hoppy Salmon features new Easter-themed actions and higher-quality cards than ever before. With gameplay similar to the original title, each player gets a stack of cards with a simple action that requires a partner. Players frantically shout their actions to find a partner, and the pair must complete the action before discarding. The first player to finish the actions in all their cards wins the game.

Best for players 6 and up, Hoppy Salmon can be enjoyed by three to eight players and will be available exclusively at Target and Target.com for $9.99.
