The Hive’s Buzzing in Anticipation for This Laidback, Beekeeping Sim APICO, Coming Soon on World Bee Day

The bees are buzzing with anticipation, bee-cause in just a few short days, Whitethorn Games — publisher of indie hits like Wytchwood, Lake, and Princess Farmer — alongside bee-veloper TNgineers, are excited to introduce gamers to their chillaxed n’ laidback beekeeping simulator, APICO. Available to wishlist on Steam, APICO is set to swarm PC this Friday with its full launch! 

The release coincides with World Bee Day, which promotes the critically important message of bee conservation. A portion of APICO’s sales will bee donated towards national and international bee, beekeeping, and wild bee conservation charities. Bees are an integral part of our real-world ecosystem, and in APICO, bees are no different.  Combining resource gathering, biology, and unique crafting and beekeeping minigames, APICO cross-breeds real-life with fantasy in order to teach players all about maintaining a healthy hive, the importance of bees, and raising awareness for the protection of wild bee colonies. 

So leave that dull, soulless corporate job and exhausting city life behind and return to the family home in Port APICO and get back to your beekeeping roots, where you’ll breed, collect, and conserve our pollinating pals in a series of lush environments animated in bee-utiful sprite art. It’s up to players to rediscover once lost bee species, cross-breed them to make new bees, and repopulate each unique bee-ome. Accompanying you on your bee-venture is music by the extremely talented composer Mothense.

• Breaking into Hives: It’s not as bad as it sounds! Collect materials, craft tools, and play fun beekeeping minigames to help rehome bees before releasing them back into the wild. 
   
• It takes a Colony: Breed, collect, and conserve over 30 species of bees, like the Common Bee, the Forest Bee, and the Verge Bee. They’re all Queens in our book.
   
• Bee-2-C Marketing: Fund the family business by making and selling honey, Apicola, and other beekeeping products. Enjoy those sweet, sweet profits!
   
• Cross-Pollination: Cross play with up to four players, regardless of where you purchase the game. Bees who work together, stay together!

APICO will release on PC via Steam, itch.io, GameJolt, the Epic Games Store, and Humble Store on May 20, 2022, with a simultaneous console release following soon after.
