Driving in the car is something most of us do for extremely long periods of time in our lifetime. Its just like sleeping, working, eating in my mind. Something necessary in our day to day life. With modern advancements in all of our vehicles most of them have a beautiful touch screen allowing you to stream your phones media directly to the car. Apple Carplay is my main best friend. We have it in all 3 of our vehicles and use it daily. Android Auto is very similar however not wireless for any of my 3 vehicles. I am a very well known Apple fan and user, however, I do have the capability to get ahold of an Android for this review. Today I will be presenting to you the simple solution to the wireless Android Auto problem. Design
The AAWireless is a simple design that is easily able to hide in the background while giving you a huge advantage. The sleek black box can blend into any vehicle and be placed in the center console, the glove box or the little cubby. Really it can be put anywhere in the front that you have space to hide it. The size of the AAWireless 1 is already tiny measuring in at approximately 2 inches x 2 inches. The new AAWireless 2 will be even smaller! But don’t be too much of a size queen because this small package packs a punch.
Functionality
The AAWireless 1 is compatible with most vehicles equipped with Android Auto, that being said, if you already have Wireless Android Auto obviously don’t buy this. They do have a full list on their website of all vehicles and phones they currently work with. My phone was compatible and easily connected with no issues at all. I was able to use every feature that I normally used but wirelessly. This was great as I tried it out from all 3 rows of our Acadia. Connection speed was superb all throughout the vehicle.
When I hit anything on my phone it was instant on the screen. There wasn’t a lag, all of the apps I expected were there just like being plugged in. We tucked the little box down below in our center storage area and never even thought about it after that. We tried this with 2 different phones and had zero issues connecting or transferring. The set up process was basically plug and play and couldn’t have been more simple.
There is also an app you can download for the dongle that gives you some customization with Android Auto and for your AAWireless 1. The app is free on the Google Play store, allows you to update your dongle as well to the latest firmware. This also is very handy in setting everything up to the way you like it.
Support
For those of you who actually are concerned with it not working, running into issues or expecting a hassle. I did get ahold of support with a few made up concerns and all of my questions were answered and addressed very well. They solved my “problems” in just a few simple steps without making it seem like I was a bother or a concern. Overall I would rate their customer service skills a 10/10 because I have seen some terrible ones.
Overall
The AAWireless 1 is the best friend to any vehicle that currently has Android Auto available. Reducing the connection to your phone gives you less of a distraction when getting in or driving, not having to worry about plugging in and making the connection over and over. It gives you the freedom to use a charging cable for your phone or your passenger instead of being dedicated to the car.
The dongle itself is very small and easy to hide out of sight. You can maintain your connection from anywhere in the vehicle without fear of lag or delay. If your car keeps the lighter outlet on at all times you can rest assured it will not kill your battery unless you don’t drive your car for 2 plus weeks.
