Review: Sunlu Filament Connector
Ever 3D print and notice you’re getting to the end of your spool or want to change colors for a print but don’t have a duel feed? Well, thankfully Sunlu has a solution!
They sent over the Sunlu filament connector. It’s a neat little pocket-sized device that will join your filament together so you can continue to print!
Yes, you would have to pause your printer or have an add-on that pauses it. But the connection is fast and simple. With the Included Teflon covers you don’t have to worry about when you connect them having melted filament all over.
Once joined the filament is as strong as a regular roll so say goodbye to scrap bits of filament. If you have a bunch of partial spools just connect a bunch for a random project for the house. Right now I’m printing a socket holder for my Milwaukee kit with about 6 different colors that I pre-joined and then attached to a roll for the end.
The setup is super easy, it comes with the power cord (USB), Teflon filament sleeves, and the device. Once you plug it in select the filament you are joining, and slide on the sleeve, once it beeps all you do is pop in the joint in the middle and push down. All you have to wait is about 30 seconds and pop it open, you are good to go.
I used it for a few prints and it works flawlessly once you get the hang of it. The only drawback I had was the length of the cable for power, when using the filament dryer it was a little cumbersome to hold it up and try to attach it simultaneously.
